The Bala Falls Pub – Bala, Ontario
Next to the well-known “Kee to Bala”, this pub has been welcoming locals, seasonal cottagers, and visitors to the family atmosphere since 2002. There’s standard pub fare such as “Smoked Beef Dip”, loaded baked potatoes, and of course burgers, wings, and fish and chips. There’s even a kids menu so you are sure to find something for everyone in the family, including the picky eaters here! Another fun part of Bala Falls Pub is their trivia which happens each week! Our favourite part of their menu is their “munchies” section which is perfect for sharing – from traditional fries and onion rings to jalapeno poppers to popcorn shrimp they have a great assortment of pub food!
The Artisan House – Huntsville, Ontario
Right in downtown Huntsville, you’ll find this fine dining restaurant in a lovely old home. The menu varies, and the kitchen is even willing to prepare a unique meal to your specifications. Showcasing the best seasonal ingredients and locally sourced, whenever possible, while adding a touch of Mediterranean fusion. This upscale restaurant plays on the owners’ international roots and offers many unique dishes that you may not be able to get elsewhere, including Zurich Geschnetzeltes which is a Zurich-style veal with creamy mushroom sauce, as well as various types of homemade pasta playing on seasonal ingredients. The Artisan House has many gluten-free dishes. They also have an outdoor patio, weather permitting, but this is walk-in only so make sure to get there early! Main courses start at $25 and go up to $40.

That Little Place by the Lights – Huntsville, Ontario
If you have a hankering for authentic Italian cuisine (and who wouldn’t?), why not try this family-owned restaurant, located in downtown Huntsville. They specialize in home-cooked Italian pasta, lasagna, gnocchi, homemade gelato, and pizza. With a slogan of “made with love by Nonna’s hands” you know you are in for an authentic, and friendly, dining experience. The restaurant has an incredible patio (weather permitting) and don’t forget to ask about their secret bar menu which has many creative drinks or try and create your own as the bartenders are always happy to get adventurous!
It’s almost worth a trip to Huntsville just for the meal, but of course Huntsville is definitely worth exploring in its own right. One of the largest towns in Muskoka, it’s bustling and busy during the summer, and chock full of interesting stores and restaurants, enough to while away a good part of the day!

Mexican cuisine restaurant just outside Bracebridge’s downtown. Tacos, burritos, empanadas, all of the classic dishes are available for both dine-in and takeout at El Pueblito. Dishes include “Caldo de Birria de Res”, “Mole Poblano”, Quesadilla Dos Quesos” and there are vegan and vegetarian options to pick from too.
