A Cozy Weekend Getaway at Coe Lake Haus

Hi there! My name is Kaitlyn, and I’m the Communications Manager and an Account Manager at CLRM. I’ve been part of the team since 2013, and this November, I had the pleasure of staying at Coe Lake Haus with my family and close friends. It was the perfect setting for a mild fall weekend in Ontario’s cottage country.

Here’s a recap of our weekend—and why you should consider Coe Lake Haus for your next getaway!

A Warm Welcome at Coe Lake Haus

Coe Lake Haus entry way

We arrived on Friday evening, November 22nd, after a scenic drive off Hwy 28. Since it was already dark, we were grateful for the lit-up exterior, which made unpacking a breeze. If you’re heading there in fall, winter, or even spring, having a vehicle with AWD or 4WD and winter tires is highly recommended in case snow makes an appearance on the cottage roads.

Once inside, we settled into the cozy and well-thought-out layout. The cottage has no indoor stairs, which made it ideal for our toddlers, Ryker (6) and Colin (2), and our friends’ little one, Bart (2). The bedroom setup worked perfectly for our group: Mike, Lexy, and Bart took the primary suite, while Andrew, the kids, and I used the two other bedrooms. It’s worth noting that Coe Lake Haus is pet-friendly, so our dogs—Diesel, an 8-year-old, and Mylah, our 3-year-old German Shepherd—felt right at home too.

Relaxation Meets Adventure

After unpacking, Andrew and Mike headed out to catch the practice runs at the Rally of the Tall Pines, an annual event in Bancroft that’s been a tradition for them for over 20 years. Meanwhile, Lexy and I stayed back with the kids, making them a quick dinner of pizza and putting on Toy Story. Once the little ones were in bed, it was Girl Time!

The hot tub was a highlight of our evening! The water was warm, the jets were soothing, and the lights created a fun, party-like ambiance. Lexy and I spent about 45 minutes chatting and unwinding before calling it a night. Meanwhile, the guys enjoyed a cold beer and caught an episode of Top Gear on the cottage’s Samsung TV.

A Fun-Filled Saturday

Saturday morning began early—thanks to our energetic toddlers, who woke us up at 6:30 a.m. (Ah, the joys of parenting!) We started the day with coffee and Moana on Disney+, followed by a quick breakfast run to Tim Hortons. The spacious front foyer made it easy to bundle up seven people for a day out in the November chill.

We spent the morning exploring various stages of the Rally of the Tall Pines. It’s always exciting to share this tradition with our kids, who are just starting to appreciate the event’s fast-paced fun. Afterward, we returned to the cottage for a warm lunch of BBQ burgers and hot dogs. While the kids napped, the adults took advantage of the fireplace, warming up and relaxing before heading back out for more rally action.

A Perfect Evening at the Cottage

Back at Coe Lake Haus, we cooked a delicious dinner of mac and cheese, chicken, and roasted veggies. The fully equipped kitchen made it easy for multiple cooks to work together, and we loved the modern appliances. After dinner, Andrew and I indulged in another dip in the hot tub, while Mike and Lexy stayed inside to watch TV by the fireplace. The peaceful surroundings and cozy atmosphere made it easy to unwind after a busy day.

Sunday: A Sweet Send-Off

Sunday morning was bittersweet as we packed up to leave. But first, we enjoyed a big, hearty cottage breakfast—bacon, eggs, sausages, fruit, and, of course, coffee. While the kids played some of the yard games provided at the cottage, I took a moment to film some footage for CLRM’s marketing materials and even did a quick Facebook Live to showcase the property.

After completing the pre-departure checklist and ensuring our campfire was safely extinguished, we hit the road. Everyone left feeling refreshed, and the kids couldn’t stop talking about their weekend adventure.
