I stayed at Forever Young Lake with my mom (Lynne), son (Ryker) and dog (Quattro) in March 2020 for 2 nights. We all had a wonderful time! The cottage in Sebright, near Orilla, is an hour and a half from Durham Region. It’s very easily accessible, even in winter.
Arriving
We were so excited to arrive at Forever Young Lake! Ryker, who is just over one and a half, can be heard saying “Go” and “Mama Go!”
I hadn’t taken advantage of the 3D Tour offered on the listing before arriving at the cottage, so the second video posted (titled: Walking into Forever Young Lake for the First Time), was our first time seeing and experiencing the property. As you can see from the video, we were all quite impressed with the cottage!
It was beautiful outside on the day we arrived.
We unpacked the cooler into the fridge, grabbed our coats and headed outside to enjoy the sunshine! We spent several hours outside before even setting up Ryker’s pack-n-play and settling in. Our time was spent building a snowman, playing in the snow, walking between the cottage and frozen lakefront and just soaking in the sun. After a long winter, it finally felt like the first glimpse of spring!
When we were finished playing in the snow, we thought we were going to head inside. But, the sun was shining so beautifully on the sheltered deck, it felt like it was almost 20 degrees! So, instead of having an appetizer inside, we enjoyed it outside on the deck in the sunshine! Everyone loved spending so much time outdoors & Quattro even made a few new friends!
As the sun set, after a delicious dinner and putting Ryker to bed, my mom and I played a few board games — one of our favourite pastimes! We ended the evening with a soak in the hot tub, which felt like the perfect ending to a fun-filled day!
The Second Day
The next day was more of the same outdoor fun! We built another snowman, went snowshoeing around the property and along the shoreline and just enjoyed some quality family time making lots of memories! Ryker now likes to say “I’m having a moment,” while he’s doing something he’s enjoying and isn’t ready to do as I ask quite yet!
In the afternoon on the second day, after our Facebook Live (check out the video below), the rain came in. But, with a big covered deck, a little rain didn’t stop us from getting fresh air as we spent more time on the deck and in the hot tub!
Time to Go Home
On our final day, the rain was still pouring down and the temperature started dropping. So, we spent the morning lounging indoors. It was nice making a delicious breakfast before we started packing and tidying up. We spent the morning listening to music and enjoying the last of our mini vacation. Thankfully, the rain subsided as we loaded up the car to drive home.
Overview
As the winter comes to an end and spring and summer are around the corner, the deck at Forever Young Lake is bound to be the all-day hangout spot for everyone in the family, from sunrise to those spectacular sunsets!
My mom and I really enjoyed our time at Forever Young Lake! And, based on how tired Ryker and Quattro were once we got home, they did too!
