Life happens – we know that.
A sudden illness or a bereavement can change vacation plans and without travel insurance you could lose, not only your holiday, but the money you paid for it, as well.
Cottage rentals are not like hotels, where you can cancel at the last minute if something arises to prevent or curtail your vacation.
Once you have paid your deposit and final balance for your trip, it becomes non-refundable, unless we are able to rebook the rental period.
Guests sometimes say – ‘but I’m only going to a cottage a few hours away so is it worth buying insurance because I have OHIP so don’t need any medical cover.
If you are an Ontario resident, you will be covered by our provincial plan if you have to seek medical help locally.
But what if you have to cancel your stay because a co-worker has tested positive and you’ve got to quarantine? What if someone in your group gets sick?
Covid-19 is a known risk so don’t expect to be able to cancel without penalty because one of these things occurs…just take out a travel insurance plan that covers the risks and you will be protected.
Not every insurance provider is offering specific Covid-19 policies so shop around and ask the questions about different scenarios.
