- Rentals include a cleaning service; however, the cottage must be left in a tidy condition
- This cottage faces south, and has all day sun with both sunrises and sunset visible
- Snow tires and 4 wheel drive are needed for winter access
- Check in time is 4:00PM, check out time is 10:00AM for all reservations.
Waterfront
The cottage waterfront’s walk in is rocky, so water shoes are helpful. A ladder will be added to the dock for ease of entry, and the best swimming is off the end of the dock, where you can jump in. The lake bottom is silty, and there are some weeds, but the swimming area near the dock is clearer.Close-By Attractions
- Gillies Grove and House Nature Reserve/Historic Site. A 20th-century estate located in a forested area at the edge of the Ottawa River. There you'll see a stand of old growth forest encircling a cleared area with a handsome, Colonial Revival house constructed from the white pine of the forest itself. (25 mins)
- Morris Island Conservation Area.This 47 hectare site consists of forested woodlands and wetlands. With 6 km of trails, this beautiful island encourages you to enjoy the best of Ontario's weather throughout the seasons: Hike, canoe, kayak, dog walk, jog, fish, snowshoe, cross country ski and much more. (30 mins)
- Mill of Kintail Conservation Area. This Conservation Area features extensive hiking and skiing trails accessible year-round. It is also home of the R. Tait Mackenzie Museum. (30 mins)
- Golf. There are a number of golf courses within half an hour from the cottage - Mountain Creek Golf Course (10 mins), Pakenham Highlands Golf Club (20 mins), and Madawaska Golf Club (20 mins), and several others just a little further - Sand Point Golf and Country Club (25 mins), Dragonfly Golf Links at Renfrew (25 mins).
- White Lake Beach Park. Small park with boat launch area, swimming beach, and country convenience store. (5 mins)
- Burnstown. Small town with Blackbird Cafe, Neat Coffee House (unique oven pizza, live music venue), and swimming beach. (15 mins)
- Pakenham. Small town with two bakeries (one gluten free), restaurant, convenience store, library. (10 mins)
- Arnprior and Renfrew. Larger towns, each with a movie theatre, bowling alley, museum, library, weekend farmers market, grocery stores and many restaurants. (15-20 mins)
- Nations Capital - Ottawa.It’s just a 60 minute drive to Parliament Hill and a number of museums and attractions
- Winter. This is a great location for snowmobiling! OFSC Trail 97 goes by on the lake in front of the cottage. Ice skating and ice fishing are both possible on the lake, conditions permitting (please note that no equipment is provided). For downhill skiing, Calabogie (30 mins) and Mount Pakenham (25 mins) are also nearby. Whitetail Farm Ski Resort offers 12 km of cross country ski trails. (45 mins)
