We enjoyed our stay. The cottage was very nice and cozy and was well equipped. The beds were comfortable and we appreciated the white fluffy towels. We used the kayak and paddled up and down along the lake. We saw herons, loons, swans and a variety of birds. We had great nights by the fire pit. It was a wonderful relaxing vacation.

We had a wonderful stay at Three Paddles on Canal Lake. The cottage is beautiful, exceptionally clean, and very spacious, with everything needed for a relaxing getaway. The waterfront is one of the property’s best features. The cottage is very close to the water, with a level yard that makes it easy to enjoy the outdoors. The dock is lovely, and the accessible entry into the lake made swimming and enjoying the water effortless. We also appreciated having paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes available, which made exploring Canal Lake even more enjoyable. One of our favourite parts of the stay was simply relaxing by the water, listening to the gentle lapping of the waves and the haunting calls of the loons. It was peaceful and exactly what we were looking for. The booking process through CLRM was simple and straightforward. The entry information and area rules were clear, informative, and very helpful, making check-in and our stay seamless. We highly recommend Three Paddles to anyone looking for a beautiful waterfront cottage on Canal Lake, and we would happily book through CLRM again!

For almost 20 years, our family has been doing one-week cottage rentals (in this price range) across Ontario. Three Paddles is our consensus favourite so far. Reasons: > although not large, the cottage is just the right size for a group of 4 or 6 > very clean and nicely decorated … that perfect “cottage feel” > top-notch, large, well-equipped kitchen super-comfortable beds > two of the bedrooms have private outside seating areas > large dining room table with comfortable chairs > lots of quality bedding, pillows and towels > awesome firepit, with plenty of firewood available > solid, comfortable outdoor Adirondack chairs > great lake views from house, lawn and firepit area > quiet lake, with surprisingly little boat traffic or noise from nearby cottages > lake has an abundance of bird life (herons, swans, geese, raptors, ducks) > lots of quality water toys (canoe, kayas, paddle boards) > great dock for sitting, suntanning and launching watercraft > outdoor gazebo for games tournaments > working TV with streaming services > surrounding roads are traffic-light … nice for cycling > our (late June) stay was largely bug- and mosquito-free > clear, professional communication with rental agency Some considerations: > The lake is not ideal for swimming. It is quite shallow, and it has a lot of seaweed that rises almost to the water’s surface, even toward the middle of the lake. The lake does have a couple of (public) sandy areas, but you’ll have to search them out. > There aren’t any interesting hiking trails nearby. > The cottage could use some handyman help. Nothing serious, and we’ve shared our suggestions with the rental agency.

This cottage was absolutely beautiful, pictures can’t describe the view or the peaceful feeling you get there. The inside and outside of the home are amazing with modern up to date furnishings and decor. The beds were comfortable and the place was roomy. I’ll definitely rent this cottage again if I find it available when I need it. Thank you for offering this wonderful cottage

We had a wonderful stay at this cottage and were so impressed with the property! The home is perfectly equipped with high-quality kitchen essentials, so even though we brought extra gear, we didn’t need to use any of it—everything we needed was already there. The space has a lovely warmth and comfort, elevated by its stylish design. The open-plan kitchen is truly the heart of the home, and we spent much of our time there enjoying the cozy atmosphere. One thing to note is that you’ll need to take all your garbage with you when you leave, so be mindful of that when packing your car. It was a beautiful stay, and we would recommend this cottage for anyone looking for a peaceful, well-equipped getaway!

Our family stayed at Three Paddles over the Thanksgiving long weekend and loved it! The cottage is very clean and cozy with modern decor. A fully stocked kitchen with all the ‘nice-to-haves’ made it perfect for cooking thanksgiving dinner. We made lots of use of the indoor fireplace and outdoor fire pit. Lake was gorgeous and area was very quiet and serene. We will come again!

Cottage was exactly as described, very clean, nicely decorated. Really like the layout with nice big kitchen area, lots of great places to sit and relax and the bedrooms seperated at one end of the cottage. Outdoor space was really great, lots of types of boats and games to keep you busy

Super accommodation – perfect for a reunion! Enjoyed sitting out on the patio in the evenings surveying the lake. Main living area has recently been renovated – very tasteful. Used one of the paddleboards to cruise the lakeshore in the early mornings. Delightful!

We had a wonderful stay at Three Paddles cottage! It was exactly as described in the listing—spacious, impeccably clean, and beautifully decorated. The kitchen was a highlight, with plenty of space and fully stocked with all the cookware we needed for cooking our meals. The outdoor area was equally impressive. The cottage is located right on the water, with a fantastic dock, ample seating, and a large lawn. We loved having access to the kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and the paddle boat. It made our time on the water so much fun! The hosts were also fantastic – accommodating and always responsive. We’re thrilled to have discovered this gem and can’t wait to return!

It was our first time renting a cottage so we didn’t know what to expect or if the online pictures would look the same once we arrived (thankfully they did). We felt as though we were borrowing a friend’s cottage especially when I spotted the welcome bottle of wine in the kitchen. The view of the lake and the dock access was great. We sat on the dock every day and enjoyed sipping our coffees as the sun was rising. While the lake was busier on the weekend than weekdays it wasn’t overly noisy. Some afternoons it felt as though we were the only ones there. Listening to the loons as the sun was going down was magical however I was thankful the howling coyotes were way across the lake! For those water enthusiasts they had lots of water toys but my favourite was the pedal boat. The huge deck had lots of furniture and the gazebo was a nice spot to get out of the sun. The dining room was big enough to easily accommodate 8 people. The kitchen had been recently renovated and had new appliances and a huge island which made prep and serving easy. Too bad there was an issue with the stove as we ended up using the bbq instead and overcooked (ok burnt!) a few things. Until that is repaired maybe the owners could add an air fryer??? The kitchen had a 12-place settings in ceramic (and in plastic if you’re eating outside). Mugs and various size/type of drinking glasses, pots & pans, knives, cutting board, bakeware and storage containers galore. Keurig, French press or a regular coffee maker gives you plenty of choice to brew your beans of choice. The bedrooms had great mattresses and pillow selection. Each room had ceiling fans (which we needed as the weekend weather had a humidex of 36) and lots of hangers in the closets. I did appreciate the ability to charge our electronics in the bedside tables. Having 2 full bathrooms made it easy with 5 adults at the cottage and they had plenty of fluffy towels for our use. The living room had lots of seating options and the blankets and throw pillows came in handy on the cooler evenings. For those that can’t do without, the wifi access works well for streaming (too bad my hubby had to WFH). One of my favourite activities was the evening bonfire which was a great way to end the day. They had firewood and kindling available (but bring newspapers as wood was wet due to recent rain). Cottage Link Rental was available to answer our questions via text and it was nice dealing with real people and not a bot. They were readily available for questions throughout our stay. The guidebook they provide prior to our stay provides a lot of great info about to cottage and the area. There was a country store nearby that is open until 8pm that provides fresh fruit/veggies, milk, dry goods, beer and wine (no meat though!). The Foodland in Brechin had an awesome variety of fresh cuts of meat. The next time I would pack less and buy local instead. This wasn’t a 5-star resort, but we didn’t feel as though we were roughing it in any way. All in all we had a great stay at Three Paddles and would highly recommend it as your next getaway.
