Overview ↑↓
As you drive across Birch Island—that’s right, drive on an island—toward this hidden gem on Lake Scugog, you’ll instantly sense you’ve found something special. The road winds gently to Sunsets on Scugog, where the driveway welcomes you to settle in, perhaps with a carload of kids and summer gear, ready for an unforgettable week. Across the laneway, there’s ample parking for your truck and boat or jet ski, setting the stage for endless lake adventures. It’s the perfect start to a peaceful, lakeside retreat.
Entering through the side gate to the main entrance, you can close it behind you, securing the yard for kids and pets to roam freely. Inside, you'll step into an open-concept, newly renovated living and dining area, where natural light pours in through two large picture windows showcasing stunning views of Lake Scugog. The cottage masterfully blends traditional charm with modern amenities, offering a harmonious mix of rustic comfort and contemporary living. No “PIVOT-ing” is required here!
The kitchen, fully renovated in 2022, boasts butcher block countertops and all the small appliances you might need for a vacation, along with all the comforts of home. Savor the stocked coffee and tea bar, make use of the dual air fryers, or cook up a feast with the new pot set—this space has it all, like you’ve finally found your very own “Central Perk” by the water. Just across from the kitchen is a 3-piece bathroom, set to be renovated into a 4-piece in the fall of 2024, making it perfect for those who enjoy a relaxing soak after a day on the water.
Down the hall, two bedrooms provide a unique and cozy setup. One features flexible bunk beds, making it an ideal hangout for kids, while the queen bedroom leads into a converted sunroom-turned-double-bedroom. This peaceful nook offers direct access to the porch, where early risers can enjoy a cup of coffee while taking in the exceptional fishing opportunities Lake Scugog has to offer as the lake wakes up for the day. As Joey would say, “How you doin’?” as you settle into this cozy escape.
Outside, the tranquil waterfront yard opens up to the vast lake, offering plenty of room for games, bonfires, and sunset-watching by the firepit. For even more space, the green area behind the garage is ideal for activities like bocce ball or cornhole, with a larger firepit perfect for unwinding in the evening. This serene lakeside setting is also the ideal spot to catch the sunrise and savor the start of a new day.
The lake itself invites endless fun, with the dock providing easy access to warm, shallow waters—perfect for swimming with little ones or furry companions. The back half of the property, still waterfront, offers prime fishing, with plans for a second dock in future years. As the sun dips below the horizon, Sunsets on Scugog will feel like your perfect summer escape.
