Close-By Attractions
- Southampton Beach. Shipwrecks dot the lakebed in the clear waters off the coast of Southampton. Southampton is known for its beautiful and unspoiled sandy beach, which stretches for kilometres and is home to rare dune grass. Dune grass helps the area serve as part of the Appellation and Songbird Migration Routes. The Southampton waterfront is home to a historic boardwalk and Pioneer Park. The beach is outfitted with many swings and a menagerie of benches; a perfect spot for young and old to enjoy the scenic view offered by the nearby Chantry Island. (15 mins walk/less than 5 minute drive)
- Denny’s Dam Conservation Area. This angler's paradise is beside the Saugeen First Nation Reserve. There are great fishing opportunities here. Catches include Chinook and Coho Salmon and various trout species (10 mins)
- Golfing. Southampton Golf and Country Club is less than 5 minutes away, and within 10 minutes are South Port Golf Course and Saugeen Golf Club.
- Chantry Island Tours. Take an Historical journey to Chantry Island aboard the Peerless II Tour Boat. (5 mins)
- MacGregor Point Provincial Park. Ecologically diverse park which is great for bird watching. Home of the very popular spring Huron Fringe Birding Festival and Wild for the Arts fall arts festival. Open year round for hiking, biking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and ice skating. The Ice Trail is a 400 metre loop and is gorgeous when it’s lit up at night for skating under the stars.
