Overview ↑↓
There’s something quietly magical about arriving at Nuthatch Landing. The road narrows, the water begins to shimmer through the trees, and just when you think you’ve reached the end of the land, a small causeway carries you across to an island escape on the Rideau Canal. Perfectly positioned in Elgin—north of Kingston and south of Smiths Falls—it’s a natural meeting point for family and friends traveling from Ottawa, Montreal, or Toronto. And while it feels worlds away, you can drive right to the door, making arrival as easy as it is unforgettable.
Perched above the water, this newly built, thoughtfully designed cottage blends modern comfort with off-grid living. A solar array powers your stay, letting you enjoy all the essentials without sacrificing the peaceful, natural surroundings. Step inside and you’re welcomed by a bright, open-concept space designed for gathering. The spacious foyer offers plenty of room to unpack and settle in, leading into a beautifully appointed kitchen with a large island that invites long, leisurely meals and easy conversation.
Just beyond, the dining area flows into a cozy living room anchored by a wood stove—perfect for cooler evenings or slow mornings with coffee in hand. The main floor also features a serene primary bedroom, a second bedroom with twin beds, and a luxurious four-piece bathroom. Downstairs, a second living space awaits, complete with a TV, ping pong table, and walkout access to the outdoors. Two additional bedrooms—one with a queen and bunk beds, the other with a queen—along with a three-piece bath, make this level ideal for kids or extended family.
Outside is where Nuthatch Landing truly comes to life. The upper deck offers sweeping views of the canal, with a comfortable conversation set and access to a bright, enclosed sunroom—perfect for dining or relaxing no matter the weather. Below, you’ll find storage for outdoor games and a private outdoor shower tucked discreetly away. Follow the path down to the waterfront, where a large dock invites you in for a swim, and a collection of water toys awaits your next adventure. Whether you’re exploring the historic Rideau Canal or simply soaking in the stillness, life here moves at just the right pace.
