Nestled along the peaceful banks of the Burnt River, The Nottage welcomes you into a world where eco-friendly luxury meets the soothing embrace of nature. This newly constructed Kawartha Lakes cottage rental boasts four bedrooms, two of which are primary suites with private balconies, making it the perfect retreat for families and friends seeking both seclusion and comfort.
As a custom build, the owners have carefully selected each element to showcase the property around them, while showcasing their artistic flare. Being far from a traditional Ontario cottage, The Nottage quickly stuck as the perfect name.
Walking into the cottage through the foyer, you’re greeted to a bright and airy open concept kitchen and dining area, with floor to cathedral ceiling windows in the family room. The wood-burning stove radiates warmth and craftsmanship, inviting you to cozy up on cool evenings in front of the fire. Not to be a focal point in the room, the mounted TV can be adjusted for enjoying your favourite movies. The expansive windows offer views of the forest and a peek at the Burnt River, bringing the outside in and allowing you to connect with the natural beauty that surrounds you. The kitchen is a culinary haven with every detail you could imagine for creating your favourite family dishes or quick snacks to take down to the water or firepit.
With four beautifully appointed bedrooms, The Nottage promises restful slumber for all. Featuring a primary suite on both the main and upper level, offering the ultimate in privacy and comfort and your own private balconies to relax on.
Stepping outside, a short stroll down the natural steps leads you through the meadow past the firepit and woodburning pizza oven, down to the tranquility of the Burnt River shore. The river itself beckons for exploration, whether by the provided canoe or your own kayak, paddle for miles in either direction, with deep water and rapids a 5 minute paddle to the south and a 45 minute paddle to the north. Evenings will come alive around the riverside fire pit, where laughter and stories are shared under the starry sky.
While The Nottage offers a plenty of outdoor activities, the Haliburton Highlands beckon with their own attractions. Explore the region's galleries and museums, dine on culinary delights, and engage in outdoor land adventures like hiking and biking. In winter, the Highlands transform into a snowy wonderland, offering opportunities for snow sports and cozy retreats. Local ATV and Kawartha Lakes Snowmobile Club trails run parallel to the property and are also used during the warmer months as cycling trails, making the cottage a perfect central location to explore both directions every day of the year.

Things you need to know:
- This cottage has a valid STR license with the City of Kawartha Lakes; Licence # STR2024-420, which allows for no more than 6 guests to be on the property at any given time during your stay. The Municipality requires rental guests sign a Rental Guest Code of Conduct. It will be sent to you upon booking for electronic signature.
- Linens and indoor towels are provided; please bring your own outdoor towels
- A post-rental cleaning service is provided; however, the cottage is to be left in a tidy condition
- Garbage and recycling removal prior to departure is required
- Dogs are permitted at this property maximum of 2
- Please note that, according to the municipality’s bylaws, all dogs must be leashed or tethered on the property when outside. Dogs are not permitted to roam leash-free.
- Property has a southwesterly exposure
- The waterfront is not suitable for motorized boats due to rapids upstream and downstream
- Guests are asked to provide their own life jackets/PFDs to ensure a proper fit
Waterfront
A natural path and stone steps take you to the water's edge. While it is not perilously steep, it may not be ideal for those with mobility challenges needing assistance. There are rapids upstream and deep water directly off the dock at the waterfront where the water is clean and clear for swimming.
