Occasionally, when putting together a listing description together here at CLRM, there is a temptation to just say "look at the photos" - and this is one of those occasions. We certainly encourage you to look at all the photos (and take the virtual tour) as we do with all of our listings of course, and we'll supplement as much as we can here.
Northern Escapes is a beauty of modern construction on the shores of Turtle Lake, just 15 minutes from the renowned cottage town of Rosseau and about 30 km from historic Parry Sound. A convenient, scenic drive from Highway 400 will take you down a quiet cottage road to the end of a cul-de-sac where you will find this luxury Muskoka cottage rental.
Majestic trees greet your entrance and the setting is gorgeous at any time of year. Stepping inside, you will be "wowed" (we certainly were!) by the striking interior. The main level features an open living dining area with an amazing lake vista. A coffee station and kitchen lie to one side, and your eyes (once you have pulled them away from the lake view) will be drawn to the Muskoka room that graces the east side of the cottage, adjacent to the dining area. This room enjoys a bright, airy feel to it with windows on all sides. We wouldn't be surprised if this becomes a favorite spot for the week.
At the other end of the cottage, you'll find 2 of the bedrooms, including the prime suite which has a fabulous lake view, large screen TV and a spotless 3-piece ensuite bathroom.
Downstairs, the wow factor gets notched up a little as you descend to the entertainment level. Next to the waterfront, this will be fun central here at Northern Escapes. The far end features a large sectional and a TV - the perfect spot for movie nights, the big game or whatever your pleasure. Ping-pong and foosball tables await your group and we're sure that family tournaments will produce both daily bragging rights as well as tales to be told through the years. Further down the hall you'll find 3 more bedrooms, including a bunk room that sleeps 6. This might be the place the in which the grandkids finally fall asleep after repeated, but half-hearted, requests to "stop talking and go to sleep". If the kids get a little dirty at play, no worries - a laundry/mud room is located at the end of the cottage, as well as another 4-piece bathroom.
Stepping outside, a walkway skirts the terraced yard and takes you down to the dock area, where you'll enjoy wonderful views, great swimming and generally enjoy the waterfront for which cottages are famous. A huge deck area lets you monitor what the kids are up to on the waterfront or simply soak in the magnificent lake views. With a Hot Tub under the main deck, this is a perfect 4-season spot. On winter nights, when the stars sparkle with a clarity you'll never see in the city, you'll be able to soak in the tub while enjoying the view.
We've already mentioned Parry Sound and Rosseau as nearby towns. Parry Sound has everything you need in terms of groceries and shopping. It also offers entertainment in the form of museums, dining, the Tower Lookout, quaint shops and island cruises. If your group has any bookworms in it, make sure you visit Parry Sound early in your stay and check out Bearly Used Books to pick up some cottage reading material. Rosseau is a smaller center and offers a couple of small stores and a bakery as well as Crossroads, an elegant place to enjoy a meal.
