Overview ↑↓
When most people think of cottage country in Ontario, they picture quiet lakes, forests and rocky shorelines. But Ontario has another side — sandy beaches, turquoise water, beautiful waves and breathtaking sunsets. That’s exactly what you’ll discover at Halcyon Cottage, a bright and beautiful beach house tucked along the shores of Lake Huron.
Located at the end of a private lane just outside Goderich, Halcyon feels like a getaway to the East Coast or a Caribbean island. With its stunning waterfront setting and relaxed beach-house atmosphere, this is a place where the days naturally slow down and the only schedule is set by the waves and the sunset.
Newly renovated throughout, Halcyon has been thoughtfully designed to maximize comfort while maintaining the charm of a quintessential beach house. With three bedrooms and one bathroom, there is plenty of space for up to six guests to gather, relax and enjoy time together.
Step outside and the real magic begins. A multilevel deck and stairs lead down to the sandy beach, where miles of Lake Huron shoreline are waiting to be explored. Spend sunny days swimming in the clear water, building sandcastles with the kids, playing in the waves or simply stretching out on the beach with a good book. Be sure to bring along your favourite beach toys and make the most of this spectacular waterfront setting.
As evening approaches, watch the sky come alive with some of Lake Huron’s famous sunsets. Gather around the chiminea for a cozy campfire, share stories and enjoy the sound of the waves rolling onto the shore as you settle in and fall asleep.
Halcyon is the perfect escape for families and friends looking for something a little different — a true beach vacation without leaving Ontario.
It is worth keeping in mind that Halcyon Cottage is located at the end of a private cottage lane. One vehicle can be driven directly down to the cottage, making it easy to bring luggage, coolers and supplies right to the property.
Additional vehicles can be parked at the top of the hill, where there is designated parking. Guests and their belongings can then be shuttled down using the one vehicle staying at the cottage.
There is also a natural wooded walking path through the forest connecting the upper parking area to the cottage. Guests are welcome to explore the path, but please be aware that it is a natural, uneven trail with an incline and may be challenging for those with mobility concerns.
With sandy beaches, turquoise water, spectacular sunsets and the sound of Lake Huron rolling onto the shore, Halcyon Cottage offers a true Ontario beach vacation — and a getaway you won’t soon forget.
