If you're in search of the perfect family getaway, your search ends here at Deer Lakehouse. This brand-new cottage, completed in 2022, boasts over 2,500 square feet of living space, four bedrooms, and comfortable accommodations for up to 10 people.
Nestled on the shores of Deer Lake, also known as Nulty Lake, this peaceful retreat offers 450 feet of waterfront on a private 13.5-acre property. With no public boat launch, the lake sees minimal boating activity and fewer motorized boats, making it ideal for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. The clear waters are easily accessed from the private dock, while the west-facing cottage offers breathtaking sunset views.
Privacy is a hallmark of Deer Lakehouse, with no neighboring properties visible from the cottage and no highway noise despite being only about 15 minutes from Highway 11. You may even spot deer during your stay, particularly in winter.
The cottage is accessible year-round by road, with summer access via Deer Lake Road (Exit 248 on Hwy 11) and winter access via Three Mile Lake Road, the next exit farther north. Starlink internet and Wi-Fi are also provided. Located approximately two hours north of Toronto, the cottage makes for an easy drive through the Muskoka District, with Gravenhurst offering a great stop along the way.
Please note that the garage is not included in the rental, as it is used by the owners for personal storage. There is ample parking for four vehicles in front of the cottage. 4-WD vehicles can access the lower parking area, while the smaller upper area is better suited to cars and two-wheel-drive vehicles, particularly in wet weather.
Nearby attractions include Brook’s Falls, just minutes away, and the Village of Burks Falls, about 20 minutes away, with gas, groceries, restaurants, and other amenities. Huntsville is also about 20 minutes south, while Gravenhurst is approximately an hour away and offers plenty to explore, including Muskoka Wharf, Lake Muskoka cruises, shops, and dining. Whether you're looking to reconnect with nature or explore the surrounding area, Deer Lakehouse promises a memorable escape in a peaceful corner of Ontario.

Things you need to know:
- One mature non-shedding dog is welcome, but no puppies, cats, or other pets
- The dock is available from June 1 until Thanksgiving weekend.
- Please note that, according to the municipality’s bylaws, all dogs must be leashed or tethered on the property when outside. Dogs are not permitted to roam leash-free.
- Please note for insurance purposes there is a security camera on the roof overlooking the fire pit. This camera is not actively monitored but will be operational at all times during your stay.
- The TV is available for streaming only using your own accounts. There is no DVD player or channel access, and streaming channels are not provided
- There is no public boat launch on the lake
- Linens and towels are provided, but please bring your own outdoor towels
- Rentals include a cleaning service; however, the departure checklist must be completed
- Garbage removal is required
- 4-wheel drive and good snow tires are essential for winter access
- Watercraft are available seasonally when conditions allow (typically Victoria Day to Thanksgiving, depending on water levels, safety, and weather); refunds will not be provided if conditions prevent use.
- Winter Rentals - please park at the top of the driveway in the parking area, if there is snow, you could get stuck.
- There is a 30 metre walk from top of the parking area to the entrance of the cottage during the winter months.
Waterfront
Enter the water using the ladder at the end of the dock, where the bottom is sandy and approximately 5’ deep. There is a shallow area for children, though water shoes or Crocs are recommended due to some pebbles. Weed growth is minimal. The west-facing cottage offers beautiful sunset views from the dock. Deer Lake in Katrine, Ontario is known for excellent fishing, including largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleye, yellow perch, and northern pike.Close-By Attractions
- Arrowhead Provincial Park. 15 km of hiking trails; including a trail leading to a waterfall (Stubb's Falls), rental canoes, kayaks, paddleboards and mountain bikes during the summer season; skis, sit-skis, snowshoes, sledge and ice skate rentals during the winter. Well-known for winter activities; cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and particularly the ice-skating trail. (25 mins)
- Screaming Heads. Unique site featuring a castle and the depiction of the apocalypse using screaming heads and scared hands, howling wolves, 4 horsemen of the apocalypse and much more! (25 mins)
- Algonquin Theatre. Live theatre and concert venue. Featuring "Concerts on the Dock" every Wednesday night at 7:00pm throughout July and August. Amazing musicians and performers take the stage at Town Dock Park in downtown Huntsville. Bring a lawn chair or grab a seat in the park overlooking the Muskoka River and experience all genres of music from country to jazz, folk to indie, bluegrass to big band. (30 mins)
