A little less than expected.

Let’s start with saying that the location of the garage on the property was somewhat of a surprise since it was blocking the view of the lake from the cottage… will continue with a pros and cons approach for the remainder of the review. Pros Nice location for walks in nature Good size cottage with four large bedrooms, with individual air conditioning units Roomy living space Very clean all around (other then a few cobwebs around light fixtures) Nice veranda for sitting outdoors Nice big lot with nice view from the cliff Ideal location for campfires Lots of parking Nice to have access to garage for managing garbage and recycling Cons Cottage was advertised with accommodations for 8 people. Other than adequate bedrooms there was much missing, – Only 4 chairs with small dining table, – Living area only had 1 couch and a love seat, – Kitchen only had one medium size pan and no big pot, – Useless manual can opener, no manual potato masher. No water access (was advertised as such). The quality of the bed sheets, window covering (paper blinds), were somewhat below par. Suggested swimming area (i.e. boat launch) was not ideal. Needing attention Three legged bed in one of the bedrooms needs to be fixed (paint can addressed the problem). Sticking toilet handle in washroom to the right when entering needs fixing. Pocket doors in both Jack & Jill washrooms were difficult to manage, with one off-track. Stovetop had to be cleaned before use. Wood stove generated quite a bit of smoke when attempting to light a fire. Wood stove chimney leaked significantly near the ceiling during rainfalls. Many cob-webs around light fixtures. Suggestions Advise renters to store buckets of water in the event of a power failure (was experienced). Suggest grocery shopping places (i.e. FreshMart). Empty bottles can be brought to the Lucky Dollar in Lansdowne. In closing Although a great spot in nature, this is not a place we would rent again. Simply put, it did not offer adequate value for the money paid. Would give it a rating of 3.5 on 5.

Many of the items you listed under "Cons" are in fact noted clearly on the listing, including the dining seating, living room furniture, kitchen setup, and the style of window coverings. We always aim to set accurate expectations, and we encourage guests to review all photos and descriptions thoroughly before booking. Regarding lake access, we understand the boat launch may not feel like a traditional beach, but it is a public access point with a dock, swim ladder, and the opportunity to jump in and cool off. It’s a spot that many guests enjoy for a quick swim or paddle, and we include this information in the listing to help renters understand what’s available nearby. We’re truly sorry to hear that there was no adequate can opener or potato masher, these are basic items that should have been stocked, and we've already reached out to the owners to have them added immediately. As for the maintenance issues you mentioned (the bed, toilet handle, pocket doors, stovetop, and wood stove), these concerns were not present at the time of our most recent site visit, so we were surprised to hear about them. That said, we really appreciate you bringing them to our attention, and we’ve passed your notes along to the property owners for review and repair.
