Overview ↑↓
We viewed this gorgeous Bancroft cottage rental on a spectacular blue day in late May as the sun dappled through the leaves and sparkled on the water. It was idyllic, and we know this will become the go-to vacation home for numerous families once they discover it.
This cottage is perfect for a family looking to experience Ontario Cottage Country and nearby town of Bancroft. With three bedrooms and a bathroom off a hallway from the living space, it is designed for comfort and ambience. A curved leather couch offers wonderful views of the water, woodstove or the TV, whichever grabs your attention first, while the dining table can host family meals followed by an evening of card games. A well-equipped kitchen (including dishwasher) rounds out this comfortable accommodation.
The bunkie, nestled in the trees with a partial view of the lake, offers a beautiful ambience, as well as additional sleeping options, a queen bed, twin bed, recliner couch and an electric fireplace. We think you'll find that Birches by the Beach is a quintessential lakeside getaway!
Whether you choose to spend your day on the dock, or in the hammock under the shade of the birch trees, or lounging on the swinging deck chair, the view of the lake is the focal point. The small sand beach and shallow walkout is perfect for the small people, while older ones will enjoy swimming from the dock into beautifully clear water.
A paddle out into the lake on the kayak, SUP, rowboat or pedalboat may be all the activity you want, but if you want a little more exercise, there are trails on nearby crown land and walks along the shaded country road. If you venture into town, Eagle's Nest has three trails for hiking to the amazing lookout point and there are lots of options for dining in town on your way back.
At the end of the day, enjoy a perfect Ontario Cottage Country sunset from the dock or deck and finish up around the campfire with a few s’mores and some good conversation.
The town of Bancroft is just 15 minutes away, and with a pretty riverside park and plenty of stores, a few hours out stocking up won’t seem like a chore. Your digital guide for the cottage lists restaurants, local craft breweries, and plenty of local activities in case you feel the need to leave this beautiful location.
