One of the iconic images that pops into one's head when talking about Muskoka is the classic A-frame cottage's set amongst the trees, close to the waterfront, complete with a family enjoying the dock and sunshine. It's what you dream of when you're sifting through spreadsheets at the office. It's where you yearn to be when city life is just too noisy. It's...it's, well, A Frame of Mind.
Just like we said in the opening paragraph, A Frame of Mind offers the most classical of cottage vacations, at a place that is very easy to get to, is clean and cosy, and won't break a family's budget.
The main level features most of the interior, with the primary bedroom, living room, kitchen/dining areas and a 3-piece bathroom. Upstairs are two bedrooms with sleeping spaces for up to 5. The compact kitchen doesn't skimp on amenities and includes a dishwasher - not always found in smaller cottages. There is a full L-shaped couch and a large screen TV for your group to enjoy movie nights or the big game and a dining table will seat you all in comfort. And while A Frame of Mind harkens back to a classical cottage era, it also keeps up with the times - unlimited Internet lets you keep up with the modern world.
From the main level, a walkout takes you out to the deck and a few steps beyond that is the waterfront. The dock and waterfront are pretty key when you have toddlers, and A Frame of Mind has just what you need. There is a shallow, sandy walk-in and a T-shaped dock for lounging or launching water activities. Roberts Lake is about 1.2 km long - the perfect distance for a daily paddle. There's a bonus here which the family might really enjoy - Roberts Lake is also host to an aerodrome. We can't guarantee that it will happen during your stay, but seaplanes do occasionally land on the lake and this can make for a nice photo-op.
There is also a small outbuilding, which may become a bunkie someday, but for now it does duty as a playroom - housing a Foosball table to feed those competitive instincts.
The location is very convenient for those looking to explore the Parry Sound region. Parry Sound is just over 20 km away and is a wonderful place to visit at least once during your stay. In addition to groceries and all the supplies you need, there are restaurants, quaint shops, The Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts, the Lookout Tower and the harbour from which you can take an island cruise. This cottage is an excellent choice if you plan on taking in a few concerts at the Festival of the Sound. If your idea of a cottage vacation involves getting between the covers of a book or two, we recommend a visit to Bearly Used Books at the beginning of your stay - allow yourself at least an hour for this...it has a LOT of books.
We think this cottage is a wonderful recommendation for a young family. You wanted traditional cottaging - here you are!
