Throughout the year we all love trying new recipes. But, as we all know, the best time to try making a new recipe is on vacation. So, keep your eyes on this page throughout the year as recipes will be added!

Our staff are foodies and we love cooking and baking, so we’re sharing our favourite family recipes for you to try!  These tried and true favourites are easy enough to make ahead and take to the cottage with you or bring the ingredients along and make fresh with your family while enjoying the view of a lake!

Kaitlyn’s Pick:

Mackintosh Moist Banana Muffin Recipe
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup white sugar
3 ripe bananas
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Pinch of brown sugar
Pinch of cinnamon
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Directions:

1. Grease 12 muffin cups
2. Mash bananas
3. Mix flour, baking soda, baking powder and sugar
4. Stir in bananas, mayonnaise and chocolate chips
5. Pour into muffin cups
6. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon
7. Bake until tops are golden, about 20 mins.

 

Sandra’s Pick:

Peanut Butter Bars
Servings: 12 squares
Prep Time: 25 mins
Ready Time: 25 mins
Ingredients
٠ 1 Cup Butter melted
٠ 2 Cups Graham cracker crumbs
٠ 2 Cups confectioners’ sugar
٠ l Cup Peanut Butter
٠ 1 1/2 Cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
٠ 4 Tbsp Peanut Butter
Directions
1. In a medium bowl, mix together the butter, graham cracker crumbs, confectioner’s sugar and 1 cup peanut butter until well blended. Press evenly into the bottom of an ungreased 9Χ13 inch pan
2. In a metal bowl over simmering water, or in a microwave dish in the microwave, melt the chocolate chips with the 4 tbsp of peanut butter, stirring constantly until smooth.  Spread over the prepared crust. Refrigerate for 1 hour for the chocolate to set and then cut into squares. If you wait too long after an hour to cut, the chocolate will be very hard and will break apart when you try to cut.  If you have “over refrigerated” let the dish come to close to room temperature before cutting
