My dad rented Head for the Lake for just over a week in September 2017 and invited my brother and I to join him at the cottage for a few days of fun in the sun! Unfortunately, my husband couldn’t join us, but the dogs (we were fostering another dog at the time) and I happily jumped in the car headed to Kirkfield for a few nights.
Time at Head for the Lake
Our time there was beautiful. When I arrived my dad and his friends, Bruce and Kevin, were out golfing. I tied up the dogs so they could explore their spot for the next few days while I unpacked. As I finished unpacking I headed for the dock! As soon as the dogs and I got settled, my dad, Bruce, and Kevin arrived back to the cottage after a great game of golf. We enjoyed an appetizer on the deck while waiting for my brother, Ben, and his girlfriend to arrive.
After a delicious dinner, it was time to unwind in the hot tub. The hot tub is a great feature at this property! Just outside the back sliding door, but with stunning views of the property and lake it’s bound to be a hit for all families at any time of year!
During the daylight, our favourite spot was, of course, the dock. The dogs loved laying and watching the world go by! In early September, the lake was still warm enough to enjoy swimming. We spent the days lounging and relaxing which is what we all needed after a busy summer!
The Last Night
On our last night, Bruce had left, so it was just the four of us (and the dogs). The power went out just as we finished cleaning up from dinner, which was a bit of a disappointment since we were planning to play cards and board games that evening. But we made-do and had a great time! We lit a few candles, just enough to see the game, and played by candlelight, it reminded us of the August 2013 Blackout, which brought great memories of that time! The evening ended in the hot tub, which, with no power, meant we needed to monitor the temperature and couldn’t have the jets on. We could really hear the sound of silence that is cottage country in the fall.
It was a great vacation and I’m hoping to be able to spend more time here soon!
