About This Cottage

When most people hear Bobcaygeon, they tend to think of Canadian Music Icons, Shoes and Boat Locks!

Star Gazer cottage welcomes you and your guests to an idyllic setting just 5 minutes outside of the famous town. With 4 separate spa-like suites and another walkout bedroom on the main floor, a fully-appointed kitchen, 4 acres of wooded trails and balconies from every bedroom, you can fully embrace each morning sunrise and of course, "the constellations"!

This newly-built retreat sleeps 12, with something for everyone to enjoy year-round. The woodland setting to the left is home to chickadees, woodpeckers, deer and rabbits and can be accessed via wooden stepping bridge, over the babbling brook.

The waterfront has some reeds and weeds to the left, making dock fishing idea for your little anglers. A gradual water entry is available to the right or jump off the end of the dock for swimming. Take advantage of the kayaks and paddleboat or tie your own boat at the dock for access to the Trent-Severn Waterway and Bobcaygeon Lock 32, just across Noggie Creek Bay and Pigeon Lake. As water levels vary during the season, some weed may become noticeable around the shore and dock area as the water warms. Public beaches are a short drive away and the boat launch is available, just 3 properties down the road.

The cottage is equipped with a sound system for you to enjoy your favourite music in any of the rooms throughout.

Whether you're cooking your own meals in the beautiful modern kitchen, or visiting the many restaurants and shops in town, you and your guests can relax and enjoy your time in Hip-Town.

Trivia

Samuel de Champlain passed through Bobcaygeon with a band of Huron during his 1615 military expedition. By the early 1830s, the government of Upper Canada had completed its survey of the Township of Verulam (a rural municipality within the former Victoria County, now the city of Kawartha Lakes) and the area began to attract settlers. Thomas Need, who arrived in 1832 is recognized as one of the earliest settlers of the Township and was the founder of Bobcaygeon. With his purchase of 3000 acres (12 km2) of land, Need built a sawmill, gristmill, and the first store. In 1833, the provincial government began construction of a lock and canal at the narrows between Sturgeon and Pigeon Lakes. This was the first lock constructed on the Trent–Severn Waterway. Soon a community began to develop around the lock and Thomas Need's sawmill and gristmill. In the 1850s, the economic development of Bobcaygeon was further stimulated by Mossom Boyd's lumbering business. (Source - Wikipedia)
