About This Cottage

The View!

We thought that was all we needed for a leading paragraph. The panoramic vista of Ril Lake dominates many of the rooms in this cottage so it's best to lead with the strength. Of course, there is more going for Ril Lake Panorama than this, so let's explore a little.

Ril Lake is neatly placed just south of Lake of Bays near the town of Baysville. The irregular shape and islands and bays give the lake an allure for canoeists and kayakers as well as power boaters.

The cottage itself is very well suited to a larger family. The main level includes a well-equipped kitchen, a dining room with windows on 3 sides for an airy feel, a living room with that gorgeous million-dollar panorama, 3 bedrooms, including the master with en suite, and the main bathroom. There is a deck with BBQ off of the dining area for the family grill master. The lower level holds two more bedrooms and a family room, complete with TV/DVD and a ping pong table for entertainment and a laundry room.

Outside, a set of staircases lead to the water's edge. The climb or descent is not overly difficult, but would not be recommended for those with mobility concerns. The waterfront itself is a wonderful haven for relaxation and enjoyment of the lake. A rock-srrounded lakeside patio provides a shelter from and wind as well as a waterside ambience to set the mood. Swimming off the dock is good, and there is a small, shallow sandy entry area for toddlers and non-swimmers.

The property is quite private, with the neighbours being a good distance away and well shielded by the trees.

If you plan on getting out and exploring, we recommend Baysville and Dorset for quaint near by towns. Baysville, just a 10-minute drive, offers an LCBO and a country store. We recommend setting aside some time to visit the Lake of Bays Brewery, Humble Pie Bakery (butter tarts!) and Miss Nelle's for ice cream and snacks. On the Dorset side, a visit to Robinson's should provide what you need in the way of groceries. A little further afield, the town of Bracebridge is scenic and popular with cottage-goers and anyone who enjoys the book shops, shopping and cafes of cottage country. Nick's is a personal favorite for breakfast.

If you have a larger family, Ril Lake Panorama should offer you the privacy and cottage experience you are looking for, and we invite you to visit this year for your vacation. We'd warn you not to fall in love with the area, but why bother, you will anyway.
