About This Cottage

Please note that this listing is pending approval from the owner. While the information contained herein is generally accurate, it may not be deemed 100% reliable at this time.

Tucked into a quiet bay between Buckhorn and Bobcaygeon, Rocky Cove is a newly renovated escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

An easy drive from the GTA and surrounding areas, this three bedroom cottage has lots of space to relax with friends and family, both inside and out. Take advantage of the gorgeous lake views spanning the back of the property, whether you're in the sunroom, kitchen or enjoying dinner at the full dining table.

Cleverly built into the Canadian Shield, follow the wooden boardwalk from the parking area, down to the main entrance, past the patio dining area, complete with screened gazebo and right down to the resort-style dock. The pie-shaped lot had a large open area, perfect for lawn games and running around.

Once waterside, you'll find an idyllic setting complete with Muskoka chairs for lounging and a paddleboat and kayak waiting for you to paddle out into Big Bald Lake. For boating enthusiasts, you can dock your own boat at the cottage and take advantage of the locks in either Buckhorn or Bobcaygeon to take day trips into town for shopping, exploring or just for ice cream or pizza!

The quiet bay is shared with one other cottage and is a great place for jumping off the dock and lazily floating on your favourite inflatable. With deep water right off the dock, be sure to bring along fishing rods for your little anglers.

Enjoy the fully-equipped kitchen, with dishwasher, and laundry facilities tucked away in the main bathroom. The sunroom boasts a 50" TV with access to Netflix and a woodstove for fall and winter visitors. The three bedrooms offer 2 queen-size and a double bed.

Rocky Cove is home to turtles, chipmunks and beautiful birds, which are sure to delight the kids and nature lovers.

Since the cottage is tucked away into the rocky shoreline of Big Bald Lake, access to the water is off the dock, which is just steps away from the cottage deck. Here the water is around 7-feet deep and, being in a quiet, traffic-free cove, is great for swimming, or you can paddle to the main channel in just a few short strokes.  The water is clear and generally weed-free, although there is some natural vegetation off to one side of the dock.

The Tragically Hip released a song entitled "Bobcaygeon" in 1998. Although it was not specifically written about the nearby town (which was chosen to complete a rhyme), the song has still been culturally-associated with Bobcaygeon. In 2011, as part of Big Music Fest, The Tragically Hip performed a concert in Bobcaygeon. In 2016, a viewing event for the band's final concert in Kingston was held on Bobcaygeon's main street. It was the largest public event in the community's history, with attendance boosted by fans who travelled specifically to Bobcaygeon. A candlelight vigil was held in Bobcaygeon following the death of the band's lead singer and lyricist, Gord Downie. (Source - Wikipedia)
