About This Cottage
You say you want a cottage that embodies the classic Parry Sound treed waterfront, sits close to the water, enjoys clean, weed-free swimming from the dock, is isolated enough to see the occasional deer wander past the cottage yet close enough to town that going out for a loaf of bread isn't a long trip? You'd like all this in a package that has the amenities of a home in the city too? Well, of course, you can't get ALL of those things without making a compromise...oh wait, yes you CAN!
When you enter the cottage, you'll be delighted to see straight through the open concept living/kitchen/dining area and see the lake. The living room offers a large sitting area with exceptional views from the pair of double sliding glass doors leading to the deck and the large windows on either side. A wood stove is there in case you are there in cooler times and feel like something cozy. There is also a family room area beside the main living room, with a large screen cable TV. Tucked away further in a corner beside that is an office space - secluded enough to provide some privacy but not so much that you feel cloistered away - sure, you may need to get in touch with the office but you ARE at the cottage.
The kitchen has everything you need, and the dining room (windows on 3 sides!) seats 6 comfortably.
The waterfront is simple and scenic. There is a fire pit and a dock here. The dock has a ladder for easy access to the deep-water swimming here. The water deepens quickly from the shore so non-swimmers should have constant supervision and wear a flotation device.
We mentioned at the outset that you were close to town. A 6 km distance means it's walking distance for those looking for a little exercise. Parry Sound has pretty much everything you would need in terms of shopping and dining. There's usually something going on at the Stockey Centre for the Arts, and Music Lovers will always enjoy the Festival of the Sound, a long-standing annual music showcase. You might want to venture across 124 to visit the historic Magnetawan waterway, or towards the heart of Muskoka in Port Carling and area.
