About This Cottage

Relax, rejuvenate and restore mind and spirit in this delightful location the owners have called Love, Joy, Peace Cottage or LJP for short. And once you’ve spent some time in this idyllic spot on quiet Julia’s Creek you’ll appreciate why they love this place so much.

Situated on 100 feet of waterfront and level lawn, just a minute boat ride into Stoney lake with 1100 islands, LJP has its own boat launch, seating areas near the water, a fire pit and a dock. With a choice of canoe or a couple of kayaks, you can explore the creek or paddle out to the nearby sandbar where you can take a refreshing swim in clear water. Fishing is great direct from the dock or with your own, or rented boat, out in the lake.    Boat rental is available from nearby Peel Marine and your choice of boat can be delivered to your private boat launch. The reasonable rates for boat rental plus this value accommodation gives you a great vacation package without breaking the bank.

The cottage has a shaded deck with a BBQ and patio furniture for al fresco meals or simply taking a snooze in the heat of the day.

Inside you will find an attractively furnished cottage with a comfortable living room for relaxing or enjoying a movie with a dining area overlooking the water. The kitchen is compact but well-equipped for catering for the family.

We particularly liked the sun room where you could take morning coffee or an evening aperitif while watching the wildlife that frequents the area. Keep an eye out for loons, cranes, turtles, beaver and the occasional deer on the lawn. A wood stove is available outside the summer months for warming up the room on colder days.

3 bedrooms and a bathroom are located at the rear of the cottage and are all equipped with comfortable mattresses – linens are also provided.

Picturesque Lakefield is a 20 minute drive with Peterborough, 40 minutes away. Enjoy a drive around Stoney Lake and take in Petroglyphs Provincial Park, stop for lunch in Burleigh Falls; watch the boats at Youngs Point and sit by the water in Lakefield and enjoy home made ice- cream....and that just an idea for one day! Try out the golf courses in the area too, there are several to choose from. You can even take a cruise on Stoney Lake.

Waterfront

The waterfront has weed and is not ideal for swimming; however, just a 10 minute paddle out into the lake is a sandbar, so you can take the canoe out there if you feel the need to get wet. The fishing is great directly from the dock, so if that's your interest there is little need to go further afield.

Trivia

Stoney Lake is some 20 miles long from Young's Point to the lake's eastern shores encompasses over 1,000 islands and half a dozen 19th century settlements. Native people returned to its healing waters and fragrant pines at least two centuries ago and on-going historic research argues convincingly that Champlain travelled the area lakes, rivers and overland portages in the 1500s.
