About This Cottage
CLRM is privileged to represent a number of cottages in what we call the "sweet spot". While you might think this refers to cottage country in general or even a specific area such as Muskoka, you would be partially correct. We also consider a "sweet spot" to be the 3-bedroom traditional cottage that encompasses casual relaxation, fun in the water and a great traditional cottage experience for small to medium size families. Gloucester Pines is exactly that.
Gloucester Pool is one of the larger lakes on the Trent Severn Chain and it is popular with thousands from the GTA. It offers good swimming, boating and fishing and since it is part of the aforementioned waterway, you could, if you wanted to, go anywhere in the world by boat from here. Of course, you're here for the cottage, so the round-the-world adventure is for another time.
After a drive that takes you several km down a cottage road away from the hustle and bustle of civilisation, you'll step out of your car into the quiet that is Gloucester Pines. The cottage is situated on a slope covered in trees that lend themselves to the cottage name with occasional outcroppings of Canadian Shield Rock.
Inside, at the back of the cottage, you'll find 3 cosy bedrooms, with flexible sleeping arrangements for families, couples and kids. You'll also find the 4-piece bathroom on this level. Just a few stairs take you down to the main living area of the cottage, consisting of the living room, kitchen and dining area. All enjoy the windowed wall that faces the lake, bringing in the sunlight that is filtered by the pines, bathing the rooms gentle daylight. The kitchen is up to date and contains everything you need for cottage meals. The living room has seating for all and is the perfect spot to enjoy a movie, game or simply share a drink and share a tall tale or two. There is a walkout here to the deck area, where you will find the requisite barbecue and outdoor seating.
A staircase takes you to the waterfront where you may want to spend time lazing in the sun on the dock, punctuated by a dip in the lake to cool off. An adventurous pair will want to grab the kayaks and spend some time exploring the lake and nearby islands (please make sure you bring life jackets). Evenings bring starry skies and marshmallows around the fire. Then the sleepy children can be tucked in bed while the adults enjoy a late night snack and plan for another great day tomorrow.
