About This Cottage

Lake Manitouwabing is one of the most interesting lakes in the Parry Sound Muskoka area. With a variety of islands, bays, inlets and some wide open areas perfect for play, the lake invites boaters and watersports enthusiasts of all types. Rugged Group-of-7 shorelines will transfix those for whom nature inspires and beautiful cottages dot other shores. One of the southern arms of this lake is where you will find Feathery Pines Lakehouse with over 400 feet of shoreline of its own!), a place for you and your family to enjoy the classic cottage experience of watching the sun depart at the end of the day and a whole lot more!

Coming into the cottage from the parking area, you'll find the kitchen and dining area along with the chief gathering area - a living room complete with satellite TV and a wood stove (for those cooler evenings). There are 3 bedrooms on this level as well as a 4-piece bathroom. Stepping outside off the living room, you'll find a deck overlooking the water and the requisite propane BBQ - the essential companion for any cottage week. Downstairs, you'll find 2 more bedrooms, another bathroom and a family seating area - great for some space since you might be here with a larger family. Rainy days and evenings will likely see your group determining the bragging rights of 8-ball champion, as this level features a pool table.

Stepping outside, a sloped yard leads to the dock and waterfront area. You'll enjoy the west facing shoreline here, with a dock area well suited to its main tasks of being the focal point for boating, swimming and sunning.

Out and about? In addition to being able to find whatever you should need in the town of Parry Sound, 20-25 minutes away, the smaller town of McKellar is just 15 minutes away, offering a general store and some tasty take out ice cream and grill food.

When it comes down to it, this cottage is all about gathering your family together and relaxing by the waterfront - which is really what cottage rentals are all about!

Trivia

The local township and nearby community of McKellar is named for Archibald McKellar (1816-1894), a member of the legislative assemblies for the Province of Canada (1857-1867) and, following Confederation, Ontario (1867-1875). The neighbouring communities of Broadbent and Hurdville were named for American Steel Millionaire, Samuel Broadbent (1845-1923), who financed the building of the Trans-Canadian Railway and Canadian Financier William Faulkner Hurdville (1838-1910), who also helped finance the Railway.
