About This Cottage

Overlooking beautiful Beaver Lake is this lovely 3 bedroom cottage and Bunkie boasting a delightful garden, deck and clear waterfront on a quiet stretch of water. The surrounding area is worth exploring to see pretty eastern Ontario villages and the rolling countryside typical of the area.

The cottage is located on a long spit of land that stretches out into the lake with cottages on either side of the cottage road. Bearadise benefits from a westerly exposure and has a sloping grassy area leading up to the road-side of the cottage with trees that shield it from view. One of the first things you will see when you arrive is the firepit with colourful Muskoka chairs surrounding it, so your evenings of wiener roasting and tales around the campfire are pretty much guaranteed.

Entry to the cottage is into a hallway, which has a bedroom to one side and a spacious bathroom with tub and separate shower, to the other. The fully-equipped kitchen, small dining area and living room stretch across the waterside of the cottage and have sliding doors onto the deck. The master bedroom is off the kitchen, while the third bedroom is off the living area which has comfortable furniture and a satellite TV and home theatre system.

For winter rentals and cooler spring and fall periods, there’s under floor heating and a very effective wood stove which makes the cottage super-cosy.

The big surprise is in stepping out of the sliding doors where you’ll see a side deck with a sunken hot tub! This will be a great hit at any time of the year. To the other side of the deck is a small Bunkie that’s will be popular with teens wanting a little space of their own.

The cottage sits above the lake so benefits from cooling breezes. There are quite a few steps down to the water which is fairly deep at the shoreline so this is more suitable for families with children OK to run up and down on their own. A small deck near the water is great for sitting and watching the kids jumping and diving off the dock.

This is a super cottage for a family wanting to enjoy the best of cottage country and perhaps explore a lesser known area. Kingston is less than an hour away; the cute village of Tamworth just a few minutes, and a trip to picturesque Westport would make a great half day out.

Trivia

Originally settled in 1826, the local village of Tamworth received its name in 1848 the year of the great potato famine in Ireland. The area was settled by many Irish immigrants and by 1865 the population of the area was 500.  In 1884 the Tamworth and Quebec Railway had three trains departing to Napanee each day.
