About This Cottage

Six Mile Lake is popular for a number of reasons, including it's ease of access from the GTA (just 90 minutes away) , beautiful scenery and great fishing. Anglers' Landing scores a bullseye on all of these, and does so in modern, 4-bedroom comfort. If your larger family is looking for a cottage vacation that is convenient and comfortable (we should mention here that it is air-conditioned), you should definitely consider this one!

Just a few minutes off highway 400 and White's Falls Road, you'll find that civilisation retreats rapidly. The cheery blue exterior of the cottage hints at the bright interior. The open concept living-kitchen-dining area welcomes your entire group with comfortable seating and large windows. There are 2 main floor bedrooms and 2 upstairs. Young families will be happy to know that a crib is available for you. The loft area, complete with satellite TV, overlooks the living room and enjoys a great view of the treetops and waterfront.

The large deck that spans the entire width of the cottage is a great place to enjoy sun, shade, food and drink. A fire pit is adjacent to the deck, and you will want to partake in the time-honored tradition of songs and tales around the campfire, punctuated with a toasted marshmallow or two.

The stairs take you to the waterfront - the place to enjoy more sun, relax on the dock, take the occasional dip to cool off, or cast your line in the water - the owners report fishing to be great right from the dock. There is also a paddleboat here for exploring the bay and greater lake.

If you feel like an excursion, Muskoka is there for the taking. We recommend a trip down the road to Big Chute to catch the marine railway in operation. History buffs may want to visit the Martyrs' Shrine in Midland. Six Mile Lake Provincial Park is nearby and offers a great beach. The town of Port Severn offers a waterfront park complete with a splash pad (and of course a couple of ice cream stores). In the winter - yes, it's a 4-season cottage - you are well positioned to enjoy the hills at Mount Saint Louis-Moonstone.

Anglers' Landing awaits - are you coming?

The cottage is located above the water on a hillside. A set of stairs lead to the dock and waterfront. While there are not an excessive amount of stairs, those who are mobility challenged may be advised that the waterfront may not be easily accessible to them. The waterfront is somewhat weedy, but swimming above the weeds is possible off the end of the dock. Fishing in the bay is excellent, even from the dock.

The nearby Big Chute Marine Railway is a patent slip at Lock 44 of the Trent-Severn Waterway. It works on an 'inclined plane' to carry boats in individual cradles over a change of height of about 60 feet (18 m). It is the only marine railway (or canal inclined plane) of its kind in North America still in use, and is overseen by federally operated Parks Canada. (Source - Wikipedia)
