On a crisp winter morning, CLRM visited Walden Stays, a hidden gem nestled on Cameron Lake in Fenelon Falls. A scenic drive up Highway 35, this charming four-season retreat welcomes guests with open arms. As we arrived, the cleared driveway and flat access set the tone for a stress-free getaway, making it an ideal escape for families and those with mobility concerns. There’s nothing quite like visiting a cozy, well-equipped cottage in the heart of winter!
Stepping inside, we were greeted by the warm and inviting living room, where two large sofas and a loveseat beckon you to sink in and unwind. Vaulted ceilings add a sense of spaciousness, while a TV and pool table promise endless entertainment. Just beyond, the bright and modern kitchen features white cabinetry, a large gas stove, and all the tools needed to whip up delicious cottage meals. Whether you're making a hearty breakfast before a day of adventure or a gourmet feast to share, this kitchen feels like home.
A short set of steps leads down to the dining room, where a picture window frames views of the river flowing into Cameron Lake. A second door offers easy access to the BBQ area, perfect for grilling up a lakeside dinner. The thoughtful layout continues with three well-appointed bedrooms and two bathrooms. The primary suite features a king bed, a TV, and a small workspace, making it an excellent choice for those mixing work with relaxation. The second bedroom sits conveniently near the main bathroom, while the third overlooks the hot tub and waterfront, ensuring every guest enjoys a peaceful sleep. A separate Games Room stocked with children’s books, toys, and a foosball table makes this retreat perfect for families.
Outside, Walden Stays offers multiple gathering spaces to suit every mood. Whether you’re savoring a meal at the outdoor dining table, sharing stories around the firepit, or unwinding in the hot tub under the stars, every moment here is designed for relaxation. The waterfront is the true highlight—launch a paddle down the tranquil canal for a serene start to your day, or venture into Cameron Lake for a taste of the lively Kawartha Lakes experience. No matter the season, Walden Stays is a retreat where lasting memories are made.

Waterfront
The waterfront is not ideal for swimming due to the sharp rocky bottom (4-5 ft deep) but it’s perfect for fishing or launching a kayak or fishing boat. Weed removal is done monthly. The canal is teeming with wildlife, including turtles and various species of ducks. It's also a frequent fishing spot for majestic blue herons, often seen perched nearby or wading along the shore. Towering trees along the shore provide ample shade, creating a peaceful and relaxing setting.Boating
The dock is in place from the May long weekend to Thanksgiving, water levels permitting. Boat docking cannot be accommodated due to the rocky nature of the waterfront.Close-By Attractions
