River Ridge is a beautifully renovated 19th century home backing on to the Saugeen River and its famous canoe route. Old-world charm is evident from the wraparound porch, and we will forgive you if you
have the urge to grab an ice-cold lemonade, pull up a chair and while away for an hour or two
reminiscing about the way things used to be. Opening the front door and stepping inside this Bruce Peninsula cottage rental, you’ll find yourself on the main level. A Living room/dining room graces this section along with a cozy gas operated fireplace. Then a kitchen and a dinette lying behind. The dinette area doubles as an office space or just perfect for sitting in the morning sun overlooking the river. A 4-piece bath along with
washer/dryer is on this level.
Upstairs you will find two nicely appointed bedrooms and a bath (bathtub to leisurely soak in).
Back on the main floor, there is a large mud room to store your belonging that opens to the expansive
deck overlooking the yard and river. Off to the left is the Bunkie-spacious sleeping quarters for
additional people in your group.
A stroll down the slope of the yard takes you to the waterfront, where a staircase provides a transition
down the steeper part of the slope. You might want to embark on a canoe ride up or down the river.
Alternatively, grab the tubes and take them upstream-the family will love the lazy river tubing
experience as you float back to River Ridge.
Across from the river is the Paisley Rotary Campground (hosts the Blue's Fest and the Paisley Fair).
Walking distance to many trails (the Bruce Tail Paisley to Port Elgin section is just 15 minutes from the cottage), antique shops, small library, gourmet ice cream, Café's, Pub's, and the LCBO. You'll enjoy exploring the area. Saugeen Bluffs only 10 minutes away, and Port Elgin beaches on Lake Huron is only 15 minutes away. In the winter you can enjoy cross country skiing across the river at the Rotary Campground, and there's a beautiful trail along the Saugeen River.
