When you arrive at this luxury cottage, the property sprawls out in front of you. There is plenty of lawn space here for those who fancy a yard game or sitting around the large fire pit. There are stairs (about 100) that will take you down to the stunning Lake Huron waterfront with panoramic views. This may not be the right cottage for those that are mobility-challenged. At the bottom of the stairs, you emerge though the cedars to a classic Lake Huron beachfront - sand with a pebble/rock entry.
Lake Huron is a beautiful area to explore and enjoy, regardless of the season. A November getaway may give you the excitement of seeing the lake at full fury during a storied Great Lakes gale and in the winter you will be treated to "mountains" of snow and ice on the shore!
Moving inside the cottage, you'll note that the main level sprawls out - a magnificent living room, a kitchen worthy of any decorating magazine, and a bonus room with an upright piano (note the fireplace is not usable). There are 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms with walk-in showers, soaker tubs and comfy mattresses. It's hard to imagine a finer cottage for an extended family to reconnect.
Port Albert is located just a few kilometres north of Goderich, which has been dubbed "The prettiest city in Canada". The town has all you will need in the way of groceries and supplies. Check out the list below for things to do during your stay.
We're excited to be able to share this property with family groups looking for a truly special stay on the shores of one of the world's most famous lakes!

Things you need to know:
- Family groups only are accepted at this property
- Linens and indoor towels are provided for all rentals - please bring your own outdoor towels
- Pets are not permitted
- Use of the indoor fireplace is not permitted due to insurance restrictions
- A strict "no outdoor noise" policy is in effect in the area. Music and outdoor noise are not permitted after 10:00 pm
- A post-rental cleaning service is included for all rentals; however, the cottage is to be left in a tidy condition
- The cottage has a westerly exposure
- The beach is only accessible to Mid Huron Beach owners and their guests. However, in Lake Huron tradition, other cottagers may pass by during their walks up or down the beach. Since this particular stretch of Beach is shared by all the Mid Huron Beach cottagers you may find others occasionally using the beach as well.
Waterfront
There is a big sand beach (some rocks) between the water and the cottage. To the north is a big sand beach. To the south is more sand beach. Pretty well everywhere you look is a sandy beach! Please note there are some rocks within the sand and walking into the water is rocky so swimshoes are strongly recommended. While shoreline may vary with seasonal storm activity, there are large rocky outcroppings. Sand bars come and go and may be found just a few yards from shore. The water is clean, clear and clear of weeds.
Close-By Attractions
- Point Farms Provincial Park. Perched on a bluff just north of Goderich, it offers spectacular views of the blue water and beautiful sunsets of Lake Huron, hiking trails and play areas, including Mini Golf.
- Goderich Lighthouse. Goderich is the oldest Canadian light station on Lake Huron and first consisted of a pair of range lights established in the early 1830s. Flashing twice every 25 seconds, the historical lighthouse has served to steer sailors through infamous November gales and iconic storms. Now designated a local heritage site, the Goderich Lighthouse features beautifully tended town gardens and is a site for family gatherings, picnics and sunset viewing.
- The Livery Theatre. The rear portion of The Livery was constructed as a harness shop in the 1840's, transitioning in a post-horse world to a car dealership and then a building centre. Now operating as a community theatre, offering year-round live performances.
- Winter Activities. Take in a show at The Livery Theatre above, or jump on nearby snowmobiling trails. Enjoy ice skating at the Maitland Community Centre. The Tiger Dunlop Heritage Trail offers hiking and fat biking during the winter months. Or simply walk along the shores of Lake Huron during this quiet season, and appreciate the winter beauty of the shoreline, with the tree roots and rocks frozen into beautiful ice formations.
- Menesetung Bridge. This heritage bridge offers spectacular views of Lake Huron, the harbour, river, and the Town of Goderich.
