We had a great week at Pine Cone Hill. The cottage had everything we could have asked for. Lots of space for everyone to sit, large dining room table, fully stocked kitchen, and air conditioning! Lots of spaces to sit outside and enjoy the quietness of the lake. Kids enjoyed the badminton net and the kayaks. Great place if you are looking for a family friendly, pet friendly cottage!

We have rented cottages many times before and this was one of the best. We loved the clean, newly renovated kitchen and bathrooms on the main level. The addition of some soft seating in the main level dining area would have been welcome as all the couches were in the living room area below. The kitchen was very spacious and well equipped and the owners left a few unexpected treats for us – s’mores ingredients etc. We slept 10 at a squeeze for 2 nights and 7 comfortably for the rest of the week. The double bunks in one room for the four little boys that were with us were perfect. All the beds were very comfortable and the master suite with large closet and ensuite bath was awesome. There was a row boat and a paddle boat and we brought our own kayak. It would have been nice to have had a canoe or kayak already at the cottage. The badminton net, fire pit and horse shoe pit, as well a large grassy area for the boys to run, were a great addition. The lake is very shallow which is good for small children. However, you need to wade far out in the soft, weedy bottom to get to an area that is deep enough to swim in. The boys loved fishing and we rowed to the other side of the lake and saw many large turtles sitting on logs in the sun. The lake is small and no motor craft are allowed. We appreciated the quiet (except for dogs howling at another property down the lake fairly frequently). The new wrap around deck with umbrella and lots of seating was also wonderful. We would definitely consider this cottage another year!

We were pleasantly surprised at how clean and updated the cottage is. Deck is large and comfortable with a big umbrella and easily accommodates all the guests. It is easy to get to the water down a few stairs and the peddle boat and row boat are in good shape. Life jackets are nicely hung and organized. Quiet, small lake. No motors which we loved. Good fishing. Dog friendly with local dogs coming to visit. Beds are comfortable and kitchen very well appointed with everything you could need. Fire-pit and horseshoe-pit area nice and clean with the benefit if you run out of wood, you can purchase from the owner by sending an e-transfer. Bancroft is 10 mins north and a local butcher is just to the south of the cottage for those last minute shopping items. The only reason I give it a four star is we didn’t love that the couches and tv are in the basement and that there was a dog sled company close by and you can hear the dogs howling across the lake a few times a day. We would recommend this cottage to couples or families.

Nice cottage recently renovated. Very comfortable. Outdoors needs some work but definitely recommend.
