This lower level unit of the owner's sweet log cabin is tucked away at the end of a wooded lane. Newly renovated and outfitted with everything you'll need for a few days of relaxing along the river, it's a great spot for a getaway in any season.
This cozy one-bedroom hideaway is the perfect couple's escape or a quiet place to stay . Featuring a gorgeous view of the river that can be enjoyed from any room in the cottage or while lounging on the patio, nature lovers can enjoy the birds and wildlife throughout the year.
The one-bedroom suite offers a comfortable entertainment area with big screen TV & games table, fold-out queen-size futon for up to 2 additional guests, dining set and kitchenette with a portable cooktop (no stove/oven). There is a BBQ available on the patio year-round for grilling as well. The 3-piece bathroom is accessible from the bedroom and kitchen hallway.
The Burnt River is a peaceful area, perfect for canoe & kayaking enthusiasts. Follow the river down into the town of Kinmount or explore 3 Brother's Falls upriver, or simply paddle around and explore. The Haliburton Rail Trail is just steps from the cottage. Available year round for Hiking, Biking, ATVing and Snowmobiling with a valid visitors pass, making this an ideal winter cottage rental. Ritchie Fall's & Furnace Falls are a quick 10 min drive away.
You can launch a small boat from the property or enjoy the watercraft provided by the owners. There is a gradual entry from the shore, be sure to bring your water shoes if you'd rather walk in or have fun jumping off the dock and take advantage of the dock ladder for a steadier exit.

- The set of stairs in the kitchen leading to the upper level will be gated off for safety reasons
- The river is not suitable for Jet Skis, but fishing boats up to 14' can be launched on site
- Pets are not permitted at this property
- Linens and indoor towels are provided; please bring your own outdoor towels
- The wood stove is not available, but an electric fireplace is available for your enjoyment
- A post-rental cleaning service is provided; however, the property is to be left in a tidy condition
- The cottage has a south-easterly exposure
- The owners occupy the upper level of this property
Waterfront
This great Ontario cottage rental has a sloping grass backyard, making for an easy walk down to the water. A shallow section allows for wading out into the water which is clean and clear, then deepens for great swimming.Close-By Attractions
- Rail Trail. The cottage is adjacent to the Victoria Rail Trail, which is an 85 kilometer trail with corridors linking Kinmount to Bethany, through Lindsay. This public trail is open year-round for recreational uses including walking, hiking, cycling, fishing, horseback riding, dog sledding, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and, subject to possession of a valid trail permit, snowmobiling and ATV-ing.
- Nature Trails/Parks. There are two nearby parks. Dahl Forest (5 minutes), offers 7 hiking trails through forests, wetland, and open areas, bisected by the Burnt River. Hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, birding, and bird watching are all available there. The Altberg Wildlife Sanctuary Nature Reserve (10 minutes) offers hiking and snowshoeing trails.
- Highlands Cinemas. This unique 5-theatre multiplex theater is built into the home of a local resident, just 5 minutes from the cottage. Even the parking lot is an adventure - consisting of a surprising amount of small parking areas winding their way back through the property. Find your spot and purchase your ticket to the show! While waiting to go in, be sure to wind your way through the theatre (which is really a museum, sorted in decades, of the history of film). If that wasn't enough, outside the house/theater is a cattery, built to support the local stray cat population.
- Golf.There are several golf courses within 20 minutes of the cottage - Gull River Golf Club, The Links at Moncks Landing, and Blairhampton Golf Club..
- Kinmount Fair. The largest country fair in the area attracts people from all over. The fair is held each Labour Day weekend in Kinmount, and this Ontario cottage rental is perfectly situated to attend (5 minutes). There are musical performances, a midway, country dance, contests of various kinds, and even a demolition derby
