Escape For The Whole Family!
This was the perfect place to enjoy cottage country. The owners have thought of everything. The pictures don’t lie in fact the cottage is roomier than the pictures imply! Originally I thought it would just be me and my husband but the 17 & 22 y.o. daughters surprised us and came up for a few days as well. That hasn’t happened in years! The layout was great with so many places to relax outside. The hammock was the sought after amenity this year! With a nice campfire pit to the right of the back doors we enjoyed nightly fires. Walk down 5 steps to a beautiful glass “fence” and deck that offered Al fresco dinners with a view of the lake. And from there, down a flight of stairs to the dock for gorgeous swimming (I am particular with my lake swimming: no muddy, squishy bottoms✅ and no weeds. ✅. The only thing I would suggest is that the “Lily” Floating Pad come out as 2 Swans made this floatie “their” spot and swan poop can spoil the aesthetic especially when you’re looking at the view of the lake from your Muskoka chair and see the “gifts” left from the swans. It was however, nice to see this mated pair daily. Also, if you have any troubles with uneven ground or small children the stairs may be a challenge for you; but the lake and the earth were there before “us” and stairs are the only way to the shore line. Real care was taken with the stairs and railings to give you a hand. It was also pretty private which I appreciate. No neighbours really saw you swim or enjoy the water toys (kayak, canoe and a paddle board.) Not sure how this works but I would recommend getting a small motor aluminum boat for fishing or to see more of the lake as the boat traffic isn’t too heavy. Guests with boating experience and a license would probably pay more to have access to a little boat. Inside: The kitchen was terrific. Lots of room, plenty of equipment, eat in kitchen or breakfast bar and stools. Plus who doesn’t like a dishwasher? The water provided was a plus as were the little treats the owners left us. The living room was also a good size with comfy leather couches and chairs. The BBQ worked well and because we had fantastic weather and never used it, there is also a large sun room with screened in windows for that outdoor feeling if the mosquitoes (surprisingly not that many) got to be too much or rain kept you in doors. It’s the perfect place for a game night regardless of the weather. Lastly, don’t forget the sweet hot tub! It was a hit with my girls but again, it was a hot week and I didn’t go in. I found it the last few days but this place also comes with A/C (and a washer and dryer in the washroom! Score!) however, the cottage stays cool and no one missed it! But it’s there! All in all a great property with nice amenities which made for a fantastic holiday. Sorry I’m late with my review but I couldn’t find a pen to drop you a little note in your Guest Book. We hope to spend more time at Heart’s Home again next summer❣️
