Romantic Winter Activities for Couples

Sometimes it’s nice to get away with your sweetheart to reconnect and take a moment to appreciate the love you share for one another. There’s so much romance in cottage country, especially in winter! We’ve narrowed down our top romantic winter activities for couples, below:

Top 5 Romantic Winter Activities for Couples

1. Take a moonlit walk on a frozen lake.

Since the sun sets so early in the winter months, it’s easy to stay awake until the moon is nice and high in the sky. On a clear night, throw on your winter gear, fill your thermos with a hot beverage and head down to the lake. The moon reflecting on the ice while you can see the entirety of the lake is nothing short of spectacular.

Pro tip – If you’re looking for a new favourite couple photo – use this as your backdrop and snap a great winter photo that’ll be sure to get likes all over social media!

2. Enjoy a glass of wine, fireside.

Whether you want to snuggle up inside or out, start a fire, pour the wine, grab your favourite blanket and see where the conversation goes. There’s nothing more romantic than a fire in either inside in the fireplace or outside in the firepit and cosying up to your sweetie.

3. Cook a delicious meal together.

We all need to eat, so why not enjoy the art of cooking together and give a new recipe a try! Two heads are better than one, so plan a meal you both will love and do all the work for it together in a labour of love. Pick out everything you need at the local grocer or market, marinate and prep everything together and complete the meal with enjoying it by candlelight overlooking the lake.

4. Snuggle-up and watch the stars.

Even on cloudy nights in cottage country, the sky is more beautiful than you’ll ever see under all the lights of the city. Layer up, grab some sweaters, coats, boots, blankets and mittens and head outside. Laydown in the snow and look-up. Try and find the constellations in the stars or maybe just connect them yourself to imagine your own.

5. Partake in a “Fire and Ice” skating evening.

Many local ice skating rinks and trails to cottage country offer evening skates with fire torches lining the rink, or along the trails. With these being the only source of light, romance is most certainly in the air! Hold hands and skate together while you have a delicious dinner simmering in the crock-pot waiting for you back at the cottage.
