About This Cottage

What is a cottage without a good deck? Where you can sit and marvel at magnificent sunsets, eat out under the boughs of a shady tree, or just relax and read a book with only the occasional call of a loon for company. Sunset Bay is just the place.

This cute and cozy cottage has just been renovated with a new kitchen and bathroom, two bright and comfortable bedrooms and a screened in-sunroom for playing games in an evening.

Unlimited internet means you’ll never be out of touch with the world if the tranquility just gets too much for you! And of course if the weather doesn’t play nice you can settle back and play your own movies.

So, back to the deck where you’ll no doubt hang out most of the day with patio seating and Muskoka chairs for watching the sparkling water and the occasional fisherman in the bay. The cottage is located in a quiet bay off the main Belmont Lake area and faces west for the best sunsets. There are clear areas for swimming, and the fishing is great. Paddle out in the canoe and explore the Crowe River to the east, or up into the lake for the big water experience.

There’s plenty to do in this area of the Kawartha region. Pretty waterside villages, provincial parks, hiking trails, farmers’ markets, and sand beaches are all within an hour’s drive, so take the time to explore too.

Trivia

The local town of Havelock is named for Major General Sir Henry Havelock KCB, who was a British general particularly associated with India and his recapture of Cawnpore from rebels during the Indian Mutiny of 1857. There are numerous other Havelocks named for him in Canada and the United States.
