Nestled amongst a majestic pine, birch and oak forest is a private log cabin village; the ultimate getaway for a large family to get together and reconnect. The theme is simple; kick back, relax and explore the 20+ acres, expansive shoreline with private beaches and secluded coves, breathtaking views, wildlife, neighboring islands, superb facilities and well-appointed cabins. An additional 250 acres offers incredible hiking opportunities with some of the most impressive views in the area.
The ‘village’ comprises the larger self-contained Home Cabin plus four more log cabins, one with an ensuite bathroom and three more sharing a large separate washroom cabin. Here’s what’s included in this magnificent family package:-
The main cottage is completely self-contained and has a large and well-equipped kitchen and a good sized dining room for enjoying family meals and congregating to share stories of the day’s events. It will probably be the venue of many board and card games in the evenings too! The living room boasts a magnificent fireplace and sitting area that warms the toes and the heart after a long day on the water. The bedrooms are off the living area and are simply furnished in country style.
The deck on the main cottage is the place to grab an “Adirondack” chair and soak up the stunning, unspoiled view of the lake or the stars. The perennial gardens are a delight and we can imagine a lot of relaxing time will be spent out here, reading,
Hannah’s Quillo is an adorable cabin featuring a small living room with rocking chairs, a comfy couch and a fireplace. The queen size bed, is open to this area. Behind sliding doors is a bedroom for children with pine bunk beds, books and just enough space for a cot. This cabin uses the shared washroom just steps away.
Natalie’s Nest is two cabins side by side with separate doors. One has a queen size Colonial pine bed paired with a cozy reading area just for two. There is plenty of dresser space and a beautiful corner cabinet will hold those items you want to hang. The second has bunk beds, tons of books, reading lights and ample storage in the dresser and has a cot for a third child.
Raili’s Retreat is a great getaway for two! A four-poster shaker style bed, comfy quilts, fireplace, a huge shower and a massive jacuzzi tub with a view, set this cabin apart. It’s steps away from the other cabins yet completely private. The cabin is stocked with plates, cutlery, wine glasses, along with a bar fridge, coffee maker, toaster, and other amenities because breakfast in bed is a must! There could be a fight over who gets this one!
Nat’s Nest and Hannah’s Quillo share the washroom cabin that also houses the laundry facilities. The attached boathouse is virtually empty and seems to be the place favoured by kids. It is here that endless hours of board and card games are won, lost, tied, restarted or tossed.
Now for the most important part – the LAKE! This has a sandy bottom and is spring fed. It’s clean, crystal clear and wonderful for swimming. It is also an excellent fishing lake and a haven for loons and other large fowl. Enjoy a lovely private beach, just a 2 minute walk down from the cabins. There’s a very large dock with two extensions (ie. slips) for boat tie-ups and another extension for the divingboard/swimming area. For toddlers we suggest water shoes as the rough dock can cause slivers in tiny feet.
The water is shallow at the shoreline with hard sand underfoot for great wading – out at the end of the dock it’s just fine for jumping and diving.
Theres a Sunfish sailboat, a 16ft canoe and 3 single person kayaks; a wind-surfer and an inflatable or two.
There is no TV at this cottage although there is an internet connection and a wireless router for keeping in touch with the outside world if you need to do that thing.
The log village on Blue Sea Lake is located approx. 75 minutes north of Ottawa near Messines, Quebec. It’s only minutes from 3 golf courses; picturesque hiking, cycling and walking trails; exceptional dining and a full-facility town of 10,000.
The cabins sleep up to 15 people with a maximum of 10 adults.
