Tucked away in the channels of Georgian Bay is where you'll discover Seagull's Retreat - a wonderful little cottage in an area that few people ever get to see, let alone spend a week. The cottage is about a half-hour boat ride from Moon River Marine in Woods Bay, near Mactier. The ride winds its way through picturesque channels of pristine waters, windswept pines and outcroppings of Canadian Shield rock.
Upon arrival, you'll discover that Seagull's retreat is a nice 4-bedroom cottage built with families in mind. Although you are secluded from civilization you won't be lacking in amenities. The kitchen and dining areas are well-equipped to meet your culinary needs for the week, and you will of course want to barbeque a few meals on the deck during your stay. There are 4 bedrooms in the cottage, with sleeping for up to 7 people (max. 6 adults) - great for a family with children of mixed ages. As a bonus, there is a washer/dryer available for your use, so a trip back to the mainland is not needed if you need to do a midweek laundry (Note - the washer and dryer are in the bathroom, a concession to cottage logisitics). A comfortable living room overlooks the waterfront, with satellite TV providing entertainment for cool or rainy times.
Outside, the kids will enjoy a romp through the area, exploring rocks, trees and wildlife. They will also enjoy the waterfront play center, complete with a variety of swings and a slide. A firepit awaits tales of the day's adventures (or ghost stories for the not-faint-of-heart). If you are staying here, there is a very good chance you are an avid boater, so you will absoultely love the chance to get out and explore the various channels and bays in the area. Anglers will relish the fishing available in the area. The bay itself is quite shallow, so very large craft would need to dock further out in the channel and access the dock with a runabout.
The price reflects the distance from the marina, not the quality of the accommodation...so if you're a boater, this could be the perfect spot for your family. Of course, there is also a water taxi available, so with proper planning, you could get out to the cottage and stay the week even if you aren't the nautical type. Either way, Seagull's Retreat promises a memorable experience at a great price!
