In an age where rustic, traditional cottages are often bulldozed in favour of large, elegant structures that are more like traditional homes than cottages, Oastler Calm is a throwback to a time of simpler cottages and total relaxation.
Cottages of this era focused on family fun, common areas and time at the water - lots and lots of time at the water - and Oastler Calm has a waterfront that is the envy of many cottages. A wide expanse of clear beach area, with a sandy shallow entry for children and non-swimmers makes it a wonderful family place. There is also a large dock, which can double as a sitting area for full sun. If your liking is more of a shady spot, you can still be close to the water in the comfy bamboo gazebo at water's edge.
Back up at the cottage, the deck will also keep your eyes on the water while you barbeque a meal or just want to relax with a book. Inside, you will find the essentials. Two bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with two singles, sleep 4 in privacy, while a pullout couch and single bed in the living room provide sleeping for 2 or 3 more. There is a dining room table with seating for 6, and a kitchen with the basics needed to keep your brood fed.
The living area is the largest room, and will no doubt be a gathering place for games and stories as the day winds down. There is also a TV and DVD player for movie nights. The fireplace, however, is not available for use.
Parry Sound is just minutes away if you find yourself missing the pinnings of civilization or just need supplies. It also has lots to do if you have a rainy day and want a little non-cottage entertainment. We suggest letting other people make breakfast for you at least once during your stay, as a Golden Griddle restaurant is just a short drive away.
