This newly built cottage and bunkie is on a beautiful section of popular Horseshoe Lake near Parry Sound. With lofty views and well thought out accommodation, it is a great choice for a family getaway.
The owners of Hagley's Ridge have thought about their guests every step of the way through the construction stages of this great cottage. They knew you wanted fabulous views while dining; that the cottage chef also wanted to see out of the window when cooking; and that you were planning on spending many evenings playing cards in the screened Muskoka room. Then they made sure all five bedrooms were equipped with top quality mattresses; that there were comfortable seating areas, and that there were separate areas for different groups to enjoy different activities. The final result is a terrific cottage for multi generation families, or two families vacationing together.
On the main floor, the open plan kitchen, dining and living area all face the waterfront so the views are terrific from every window. A walkout brings you onto the deck wrapping around the waterfront side of the property for catching even better views. Inside again, a wood burning stove provides warmth for cooler fall evenings, while the screened sunroom offers a great place to spend the end of a summer's day, relaxing with family and friends. Three bedrooms are on this floor; two with queens and one with a double, with a bathroom to share between them.
The lower floor has a large family room, second bathroom and two more bedrooms, each with bunk beds, which will be a hit with the kids. There are futon couches too for added flexibility of accommodation. A laundry room and walkout to the waterfront complete the accommodation on this level.
Of course, in a property geared for happy vacationers there's hi-speed internet access; ipod docking stations; and laundry facilities. For teenagers who want a little privacy there's also a bunkie that sleeps 2 people.
The cottage sits quite high off the lake and blends naturally into the Canadian Shield. Natural log and rock stairs lead you down to the shoreline and dock which has a new 16x16’ addition and where the delights of Horseshoe Lake await. The shoreline is shallow and sandy for about 6ft out and then drops off to deeper water which makes it perfect for practicing diving skills. A rowboat and canoe are included and boat rentals are available from the Horseshoe Lake Marina.
We particularly liked the novel idea that the local pizzeria offers delivery to your dock!
Leaving this paradise may not be part of your vacation plan, but if you must, there's a lot to do in the Parry Sound area, from boat trips to float plane rides; visiting Provincial Parks for hiking and biking, or just ambling through the town and enjoying the cottage country flavour of the area. Enjoy....we think you'll have a ball!
