Just a few minutes from the bustling waterfront village of Bala, and away from the busy waterways is this idyllic spot on the Moon River. The cottage was built in 2010 to the owners specifications and is a beautifully finished and comfortably furnished testament to their attention to detail, and passion for Muskoka living.
Nestled amongst towering pines and close to the water, the natural landscape lends itself to relaxation and serenity. The river at this location is more lake-like than the name would suggest with stunning views across the water with a southerly exposure. The water is crystal clear and excellent for swimming off the dock. At the shoreline, the water is approximately 2 feet deep with a mix of sand and rock.
When you enter this cottage the first impression is of lightness and space. Soaring cathedral ceilings and huge windows offer wonderful views of the lake and emphasize the space of the accommodation yet it still feels welcoming and comfortable with cherry wood flooring and the type of furniture you just want to sink into with a good book. The large fireplace is a focal point in the great room in winter, while the awesome views captivate year round.
The large kitchen and dining room have ceramic tiled floor, all new appliances and plenty of cupboard space, making this a convivial area for sharing family meals. A walkout from the dining area onto the deck and barbecue area is convenient for al fresco catering and we can imagine how many meals will be prepared and enjoyed both inside and outside.
The master bedroom with its waterside view and ensuite bathroom are on the main floor, as is a smaller bedroom for additional sleeping accommodation. Stairs lead up from the living area to 2 more bedrooms that share a bathroom between them.
If you have never visited this area before, you’ll find the heart of Muskoka welcoming and scenic. Built around the junction of Lake Muskoka and the Moon River; Bala is picturesque and filled with delightful stores and waterside restaurants with an abundance of nature on the doorstep and recreational activities all around, from championship golf courses to hiking in provincial parks.
