Lake Vernon is a beautiful stretch of water that gives access into a chain of lakes for exploring if you have a boat, or rent one from the nearby marina. If you are planning on staying close to home and just enjoying the fantastic location, take out the canoe for a tranquil paddle; sit and watch the children play in the shallow water, or take a swim off the dock. There's just not enough words to describe how lovely this is.
There's lots to do in this great area. There's hiking and cycling opportunities around the cottage, or bring your handheld GPS and do some geocaching. There's nearly 300 caches in a 25 mile radius of the local village of Ilfracombe! Take in a show at the Algonquin Theatre and follow up your chosen activity with a meal in a great restaurant before heading back the short distance to your comfortable lakefront home. There's no excuse for not having fun!
Just 20 minutes from the delightful town of Huntsville, the location makes this home easily accessible. Approached by a good sized driveway, the property sits a little above the lake with lawns sloping to the water. There's a good amount of tree cover giving privacy and shade but there's also lovely views of the lake from the decks. The cottage has its own boat launch too, so bring your toys!. The water at the boat launch area is shallow and stony while there is a harder sand base to the water to one side of the dock. Children can enjoy shallow wading there, while the deeper water is accessed off the L-shaped dock.
The main level is spacious and amply furnished with a good sized kitchen and large living/dining area overlooking the garden and lake. Two screened sunrooms, one to the lakefront elevation, and one to the side, give plenty of sitting out space while the deck offers a nice outdoor area for barbecuing. The main level has three good sized bedrooms and the master has an ensuite bathroom. On the lower floor, a family room has comfortable furniture, TV and a fireplace that offers ambient light and heat, if desired, from the artificial burning logs (2 supplied). A further bedroom, a curtained sleeping area and additional washroom complete this spacious accommodation. A doorway leads from the lower floor to the lawns and lake.
