This is another cottage that combines the conveniences of the city with the perks of Cottage Country. Just 45 minutes north of Toronto, Willow Beach Walk offers comfortable surroundings and an expansive Lake Simcoe vista.
This 4-bedroom getaway on Lake Simcoe's south shore in Georgina Township suits a medium-size family as well as Toronto-based commuters who just want to relax a little more, without being out of touch. While you are located in a small cottage community on the lake, you are never far from shops located in nearby Sutton.
The cottage is quite relaxing. The main ling area, 2 single bedrooms, a bath, the kitchen and the dining area are all on the main floor. The master bedroom with ensuite and another bedroom are on the second floor. You may want to simply curl up with a good book or relax on the screened in porch, but if you do want to venture out, there is much to offer. All of the attractions of Toronto, of course are within approximately an hour's drive, so international guests may find this the perfect base to combine relaxing evenings with big city bustle. For those wanting to totally escape the city, there are several quaint tourist spots dotting the south coast ot the Lake.
The road (Lake Drive), which has as speed limit of 40 km/hr, is a mecca for cyclists and joggers as it snakes its way along the south shore, with cottages both old and new on one side and the expanse of Lake Simcoe on the other. Historic Jackson's Point is a short drive or a healthy walk. Further down the road, Pefferlaw offers one of the few remaining drive-in theatres. In the other direction, a short walk brings you to Willow Beach, with a large playground for the kids, along with picnic and swimming areas.
The waterfront is located directly across the road from the cottage. The occupant of the cottage has exclusive access to the shorline directly across from the cottage. Swimming is possible from this point, but swim shoes would be highly recommended as the shoreline is stoney.
A four-season retreat, the cottage also makes for a great base for ice-fishing - with the fireplace there to warm you up upon your return. If gas prices have you reconsidering your vacation, Willow Beach Walk may be the perfect spot to get away from the city without having to go far.
