Tucked away near the end of Snow Valley Road near the little town of Minesing you will find what we like to call Ski Base One - a delightful place to hang your hat during a stay in the heart of Ontario ski country.
Ski Base One is almost a cross between a cottage rental and a bed & breakfast. The owners occupy the upper floor, while guests have the lower floor, with a walkout to the rear yard. Some amenities are shared with the owner, but there is ample privacy for your group - and a surprising amount of space!
A kitchenette is equipped with everything you need to prepare your meals, and if you fancy a barbeque at any time of the year you will find one on the patio just outside the walkout doors. Regardless of how you prepare your meals, there is a comfortable dining table with four chairs on which to enjoy them.
The bedroom is large enough to comfortably hold a queen bed and a sitting/reading area and in itself is larger than many hotel rooms. The main living room boasts a couple of comfortable couches and a fireplace, the perfect place to relax with a drink after a day on the slopes or the trails. If your activities have resulted in a few sore muscles, you will love spending some time relaxing in the outdoor hot tub. There is also a full size pool table available for your use in a private room which is shared with the owners.
We hope you enjoy a totally relaxed stay, but if you absolutely must do a little desk work, there is a private office with desk and chair located off the living area. High-speed internet is available of course, so you can keep in touch with family and friends, if not the office.
Ski Base One is central to a number of ski areas. Snow Valley (named "best Ontario hill for kids" by Ski Canada Magazine) is literally just up the road and offers tubing as well as skiing. Horseshoe Valley is 30 km, Moonstone/Mount St. Louis 34 km, and the hills of Collingwood (Blue Mountain, Georgian Peaks, Craigleith and Osler Bluffs) are about 55 km.
For cross-country aficionados, Mansfield is 49 km, Highlands Nordic 55 km and Wasaga Beach Provincial Park 31 km.
If you need to stock up on supplies or just need a touch of the city, Barrie is just 15 km away and has all you need in the way of amenities.
While Ski Base One is an ideal choice for winter accommodation, it is available year round to explore all the area has to offer.
