Discovery Villa Penetanguishene Bay - Georgian Bay

This wonderful cottage is richly enhanced with wood and nautical touches, and has a great sand beach on Penetanguishene Bay.

When we look for cottages to add to our portfolio we look for a WOW factor – that instantaneous impression of quality and ambience that sets a cottage apart in a class of its own. Discovery Cottage most definitely has the WOW factor!

Anyone familiar with the Penetanguishene area of Georgian Bay will know of its history, and the cottage’s proximity to Discovery Harbour - the isolated outpost built to defend Upper Canada in the early 19th century- puts it at the heart of this historical region. From here you can visit this waterside historic site with its unique rustic theatre, full-scale replicas of original Royal Navy vessels and a great restaurant; the pretty town of Penetaguishene (known locally as Penetang) with it’s strong French influence; take a day out on the 30,000 Island Cruise, and lots of other attractions.

The cottage sits in a private spot overlooking a wide sandy beach with water that shelves gradually over hard sand and pebbles. It’s ideal for young children, but the older ones will be equally happy particularly with the canoe, pedal boat and row boat, as well as the large expanse of level grassy area to the side, for ball games and horseshoes. A brand new 100ft dock with a 40ftx10ft 'T' has water depth of about 5ft at the end.

There is a pervading nautical theme throughout the cottage with many accents, pictures and nautical touches that give it a wonderful ambience. This, together with the warmth of the wood in every room, and high quality and attractive furnishings makes it a unique and delightful location for a waterfront holiday.

The attractively decorated kitchen is amply equipped for the large family and with dishwasher, washer and dryer, will keep domestic duties to a minimum. Leading from the kitchen is a large dining room that, with it’s wonderful views of Penetanguishene Harbour, will host many convivial evenings.
The lounge is just right for cooler evenings with an open fire and is great for the TV addicts, as there is a satellite system, and probably one of the largest cottage collections of videos we have ever seen! A sun-room with sliding doors to the deck has antique rattan furniture and a piano. Three bedrooms are on the main floor, the master having an ensuite bathroom, and an additional two-piece washroom off the lounge. A circular staircase leads from the sun room down to a recreation room with table tennis, and two further bedrooms and bathroom.
