Cumberland Beach has long been a favoured spot with cottage lovers because of the warm shallow water of Lake Couchiching and its easy accessibility from the city. Guests can walk to a local fruit and vegetable market and The Big Apple - home of renowned apple pies - and with larger stores in Orillia a 15 minute drive, shopping will not take up much precious vacation time. For those wanting to get out and about, there are golf courses, a wildlife reserve and the world class entertainment offered by Casino Rama as well as a multitude of attractions in Gravenhurst and Bracebridge.
The water with hard packed sand is great for small children to wade and equally good for swimmers who can get to deeper water further out. A paddleboat is provided for taking a tour along the lake. There are 30 steps down to a shoreline grassed area and dock from the garden above where there's a firepit and deck off the cottage. We could imagine how delightful it would be to take morning coffee on the dock and enjoy the vista across the lake, or enjoy a campfire under a starlit sky.
The interior of the cottage is spacious and bright with a large well-stocked kitchen, a dining table with seating for eight and comfortable furniture in the living area. The lake views are spectacular from the windows and sliding doors open onto a deck with patio furniture for outdoor eating. A sunroom provides a great space for children to play or watch movies and since there is cable TV, a DVD player and hi-speed internet access, this will satisfy the needs of all party members.
A few steps lead up to two large bedrooms, one with a king size bed; the other with a queen, and a bathroom in between. The fully-furnished lower level provides additional sleeping space and has another bathroom.
This is a wonderful location to enjoy summer sun and fun and to experience cottage country without being too far from the sights and attractions.
