With such limited rental availability in the area, CLRM is delighted to be able to offer another cottage in the Point Pelee region of the province. Erie Sunrise is a newly refurbished lakefront cottage blending traditions of the area with up-to-date accoutrements. Located on the east side of the Pelee Peninsula, just north of the national park, this cottage will start your day with a brilliant sunrise over the water and keep you busy until you put your head on the pillow and let the lapping of the waves lull you to sleep.
This cottage has been owned by the same family for decades and recent renovations have incorporated years of experience with the property - the owners know what works here. Tile and hardwood flooring throughout give the cottage an air of spotlessness. It has the amenities you would expect in a beach house, with rooms larger than you would normally find in such a property. There are 3 bedrooms that will sleep up to 7 people and the master bedroom houses a crib as well, so those with very young children will be able to sleep with them close by. The large living room will be a great congregating spot for games and movies - there is a TV/DVD combination as well. A tidy kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals for a hungry family. The fishing in this section of the lake is some of the best in the world, so you may wish to enjoy a catch or two during your stay at the dining table that overlooks the yard and lake.
Outside, there is a large grass lawn, great for a game of catch or badminton. You may just want to pull up a chair and enjoy a book and a cool drink down by the lake. The beach is sand/pebble. You could swim in bare feet but we recommend swim shoes lest the odd zebra mussel be about, as they are in any lake. Getting down to the beach involves walking down a ramp, and the shore is lined with a rock seawall. Caution should be used, but reasonably agile people should have no problem. Once over the rocks, you will be delighted with glasslike appearance of the lake on a clam day, or fun in the waves when the lake is more active. Every day may bring something different. If you enjoy long walks, this is a great place to take them!
The Point Pelee peninsula is one of Ontario's most unique areas. It is the Canadian mainland's most southern point, and since it enjoys a warmer climate than most of Canada, you will find flora and fauna of a different nature here. Indeed, the area is recognized far and wide as a haven for bird watchers, with many species not found anywhere else in Canada. The rich forests and extensive beaches create an air of tropicality here. Cyclists adore the area, with a minimal number of climbs to destroy your psyche and roads that see little traffic. Fans of the grape will no doubt already know that the area has its share of quality wineries, and the abundant supply of fruits and vegetables from the surrounding farmland can make your stay a culinary delight. If you are looking for a day of big city excitement, you might venture across the border to visit Detroit.
All of this, at such a reasonable price. If you want a great vacation and don't want to spend a bundle, this is your answer. Come and explore Canada's Deep South!
