The village of Bridgenorth is just 10 minutes from the northern limits of Peterborough City and is a vibrant community with craft stores, restaurants and even a Tim Horton’s, on the shores of Chemong Lake. Take the winding side road just before the village and follow it to the lake and the cottage. You’ve arrived!
We look for Wow’ factors in every cottage we visit, and although most have it in one form or another, this cottage surprised us in every room. It has a feel of a beach cottage with a light, sunny and fresh interior and is decorated in a contemporary fashion that is welcoming from the moment you step in the door.
The main floor has a big kitchen with lots of counter space, up to date appliances and a small breakfast bar with a couple of stools for sharing time with the nominated cottage chef. The open plan living and dining area offer a convivial space and it's easy to feel at home on the attractive and comfortable couches and chairs. For cooler evenings there's a propane fireplace that is very effective at warming the entire space. Just off the hallway is an office with a daybed for anyone who needs private space to work or just chill out. The master bedroom is to one side of the living room and has an ensuite bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub, while another bathroom is also on the main floor and houses the laundry area.
Stairs lead up to two bedrooms, one of which is brightly painted with a mural across the back and side walls, and has two twin beds; the other is a comfortable double. Both have windows overlooking the lakefront.
The family room on the lower floor is equally comfortably furnished and is a great place to kick back and enjoy some of the DVD collection, books or board games. A large screen TV will give movie style entertainment while you just relax with a bowl of popcorn and a beverage or two. To complete this great accommodation, there is one more bedroom on the lower floor with a queen size bed.
The outdoor deck is accessed by a door to the side of the dining area, and is where you'll find plenty of seating and the barbecue for those alfresco meals. The fully fenced garden is great for your well-behaved pet - and your children of course! They will also love playing on the lawn and wading in the shallow water with hard-packed sand underfoot. The T-shaped dock is ideal for docking your boat or just tying up the canoe that is also inclduded in this feature-packed rental.
Although there are neighbours to either side, this is a quiet area in a small bay. The westerly aspect provides the opportunity to view magnificent sunsets. There are several good restaurants close by with fast food outlets in Bridgenorth village, and a mere 10 minutes away in Peterborough. With this great location you will surely have the best of all worlds, and we bet this will be a favourite cottage for many of our guests.
