This neat cottage is on Tamarack Lake, one of our favourite no-motor lakes. If you are looking for peace and tranquilly, clear water and the sound of loons in the early morning and at dusk, this is the place for you.
This cottage shares a beach with another property, across the cottage road, but there is a lot of waterfront to share. The walk from the cottage to the beach takes about three minutes. The lake is just beautiful and because there are no motors allowed you won't be spending your days avoiding the wash from power boats and seadoos. Mornings are lovely as the mist rises off the lake - A very special location.
The cottage sits on a winding road which leads all the way around the lake and makes for a lovely walk of about 45 -- 60 minutes. Although this road is used by other cottagers to reach their properties, there is not a great deal of traffic.
Inside, the neatly furnished and decorated cottage is great for a small family. The two bedrooms (one with a queen, the other with a double/single bunk) and additional sofa bed provide comfortable accommodation and the open plan kitchen, dining area and living space are attractive and appealing. The deck has been newly renovated and there is patio furniture and a barbecue for you to enjoy your outdoor experience. There are life jackets at the cottage, and a two-person canoe for paddles around the lake. Keep on the look out for turtles sunbathing on rocks, and families of loons gliding by.
The small village of Gooderham is a 5 minute drive and has an LCBO and well stocked general store (with videos for rent) and gas station. Larger supermarkets can be found in Haliburton, along with lovely shops and restaurants (about 25 minutes away), and Minden, a little farther still. Kinmount (about 20 minutes away) is another picturesque local town with a movie theatre, a (smaller) supermarket, and a farmer’s market on Saturdays, featuring local, organic foods and baked goods. You can also treat yourself to delicious baked goods on Saturdays at Tamarack’s own Sweet Comfort Bakery – a short distance from the cottage.
