From your arrival at The Lake House you know you have chosen wisely and selected one of the finest properties in the area. The elegant portico at the entrance just gives a sample of things to come as the front door opens onto a hallway with a sweeping staircase to one side and a large living room ahead with doors onto a large covered stone patio. From the living area there are two entrances into the custom designed Hickory Lane kitchen - a chef's dream! From the large island unit to the breakfast bar; the gas range to the concealed refrigerator and dishwasher, this beautiful kitchen is one that will remain in the designated cook's memory long after the vacation is over. A dining room off the kitchen overlooks the lawned gardens.
The first floor is home to a family room with a full size pool table; comfortable furniture; a large TV and doors to a deck with a table and chairs, overlooking the garden. To one side is a huge master bedroom dominated by a king- size bed, and a delightful seating area and a private deck. The ensuite bathroom features a double shower and a whirlpool tub.
To the other side of the family room is a door leading to a completely self-contained apartment with 2 queen bedrooms, a living room, fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom. There's a private deck here too.
Outside, there's a choice of decks, patio, and waterside seating in a very private setting. There are neighbouring cottages but they are not visible from the lawns or deck areas given the amount of tree cover. Lawns lead down to a natural area flanking a small creek with wild flowers and grasses as home to butterflies and water wildlife. The lawn beyond the creek reached by a few metres of gravel track takes you to the lake front where there are a couple of ways to access the water. A private boat launch is great if you have your own boat or you can use it to just wade out into the lake. There's also an area with a few steps leading down to the water which is a foot or so deep with a rocky bottom so water shoes are required. The water is clear and weed-free at both the entrances.
The very private and tranquil location on Belmont Lake is ideal given it is just 7 minutes from the small town of Havelock with supermarket, LCBO and Beer Store. There is a local marina a few minutes away where you can rent a small fishing boat and take advantage of the excellent fishing in the lake. |
