We have to admit to some favoritism about Belmont Lake because this is where our office is located and we probably know the lake better than any in Ontario. At 7kms long and 2kms at its widest and with depths up to 60ft in parts, it’s a good size for water sports and with lots of islands and inlets, it’s also great for kayaking, canoeing and fishing.
La Hacienda is tranquilly located in a quiet bay on the south west of the lake. The water is shallow at the shoreline and has weed around the dock area so wading out is not recommended. However, the owners provide plenty of inflatable toys for floating out into deeper water for a better swimming experience. The waterside area is lawned and has a fence and gate separating it from the dockside which makes this a great spot for kids to run and play in safety. If you bring your dog, the whole property is fenced so you have no issues with allowing your pets some freedom to explore. There are decks to the front and back of the cottage with plenty of patio furniture, deck chairs and loungers. Evenings outside are taken care of with a large fire pit and log swing for enjoying starlit nights and good company.
The interior is very well furnished and decorated, with an open plan kitchen, dining and living room area across the waterside of the cottage. Sliding doors open from the well-equipped kitchen/dining room onto the deck and BBQ area making catering and al fresco dining a real pleasure. (note: the dishwasher is not functional). The living room has leather seating and a large screen TV with satellite.
Three queen bedrooms are off a hallway and the master has a door to the deck and great views of the water to wake up to. A four piece bathroom rounds off this delightful accommodation.
Just over 2 hours from the city, this is a great location at any time of the year. Explore the beautiful region that is home to sleepy hamlets and thriving waterside villages where you’ll find restaurants, craft stores and farms stores. Spend some time here and you’ll see why we love it here and think you will too.
